Forums - Gaming - Another game with no reviews out on launch day

More and more games launch and there's no review of the game out. Troublesome development in this gen.

I was gonna get No Man's Sky today depending on the reviews, but now I won't, especially seeing the user score on MC. But I'm looking for some opinions on the game from more credible places.

Is there any non-biased youtube review out there yet?

There's plenty of early previews and can be accessed from metacritic, just no scores yet. I presume that reviewers need more time to get to grips with the games

I hear that it may be boring and the crafting and surival aspect sucks, my main concerns. Any good youtube reviewer?

Well first of all you shouldn't let game reviewers make decisions for you and second it's good that they're not getting copies early for these kind of games because it's puts everything at a level playing field to play.

That's naïve, reviewers bring out scores as soon as they are allowed to. This is clearly a very heavy review embargo dropped by the develloper, which could be (but does not have to be) a sign of being afraid of bad critic.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

I wouldn't expect a quality review for a few days. The developer just dropped their pretty much game changing patch yesterday that would actually represent the day one version, and nobody has had adequate time to experience enough of the game to write out a review that actually reflects having played a solid amount of No Man's Sky.

The one or two actual reviews are out there are either rushed or based off of the previous version of the game. First impressions are your best bet.

I'm sure they can't embargo reviews after release.

If that were the case, these reviews would hit the websites pretty much as the game released.  The patch has more to do with this than any supposed embargo.

I love reviewers make decisions for me, I'm not the type to blindly buy stuff unless it's made by certain devs. I need to see what reviews say about this especially because it's the first of its kind by a small studio.

Yea I agree! I really dont like this trend cause *puts on conspiracy hat* I think the publishers are doing it on purpose... If they release great games without early review copies, then slowly, releasing games without early review copies will be the norm. What that will do is allow the games that are actually terrible to gain more sales than they otherwise wouldn't have since no early review copies wont be very suspecious... Not liking this at all tbh.
