Congrats to Monica Puig and Puerto Rico.

The Hungarians dropped out of the top 10. Since Canada is meh, I'm going for them. :(
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Thanks!

Shadow beat me to it, but yes... Monica Puig has won the first gold medal in history for Puerto Rico. I don't know what really to say but I'm really happy and excited for this. Congrats Monica and Puerto Rico

What a hateful comment. Yes not all the countries can invest the amount of money US invests to win so many medals and not many countries have 450 milions of people on them. |
I don't agree with the poster you replied to (his arrogance is rude and unsportsmanlike), but I would like to point out that the USA population is only 319 million and the government does not sponser athletes. They must either compete in professional leagues or attain sponsership deals with companies to make a living.

They do not. We may be a U.S. territory, but since we're not an official state, all the credit goes to us.

Puerto Rico is entered as a seperate country in the Olypmics? Huh, I was not aware of that.

I was also wondering that for the past few days. I'm glad Puerto Rico got credited for the medal as a separate entity.

that's weak and slightly bitter. Cant believe how weak minded that tennis player was either. Completely folded. good luck for the rest of the games. |
I usually ignore your posts or just shake my head and move along, but congrats, this time you got me to tell you that:
Of all the few remaining longterm members on this site, you are without doubt the most unpleasant one. First you tease vivster with a lame "GB is again better than GER" low blow and when he bites and makes a joke (a better one you'd probably ever come up with, I might add), you call him weak and bitter (and in the same sentence you belittle Angelique Kerber, who lost her match against an excellently playing and more determined/focused Monica Puig, yet played a good tournament and won a deserved silver medal). Now that's some classy posting behaviour.
And the irony is that you started this in a conversation where one of your fellow countrymen had posted "I just find it disgusting some people see Olympic Games as a weapon". Well, I agree with him.
Over the last years on VGC you showed your strange obsession with belittling other countries and their fans in several sports threads (like you did again - and not to my surprise - with host Brazil in your first post of this very thread). As you are obsessed with other countries and - judging from earlier threads - it seems especially with Germany, I will teach you now a lovely German adjective which often comes to my mind when I read your posts in sports threads, an adjective which we rarely use and reserve to describe people like you: hinterfotzig.
If your predictable pro-mycountry/anti-ROW posts were at least unintentionally funny, like e.g. those from avid US fan Snoopy in this thread... but no, after more than 8 years on VGC many of your posts are still just unintentionally ironic.

Believe it or not, but I always often liked you. BTW: I hope Austria will win a medal soon some day.
Edited, because I realized that my original post wasn't fully honest.
