What a letdown after your Sopranos thread. "Good taste" badge revoked.

good to hear. Recently bought it but haven't started yet. I've liked all the AC games except unity (ughhh).

Assassin's Creed was dead to me, but I bought AC syndicate (PC) and man, this game is awesome. The gameplay is great, London is great, the characters are awesome, the story is ok so far nothing spectacular. A lot of different side missions, customization, skills and other stuff to do. Seriously the franchise was dead to me, but Syndicate is giving me hope for the future. also, this needs to stay, the grappling hook is perfect.
It's sad that Unity was such a POS and a lot of people (including me) said "NOPE, never again" but seriously if you used to love the franchise, this would be a great comeback. My favorite AC after AC 2.

I was contemplating getting this. I found it online for £17 preowned, but wasn't sure. Might give this a shot afterall. I'll probably pick it up after completing Yakuza 5, although that might be a while. I have put about 6hrs in so far and I have barely finished the first chapter. Probably the best sandbox game I've played since Shenmue.

yeah do it, awesome price!
I need to play a yakuza game, is there a chronology?
I enjoyed it too, prob my favourite of the series. Although that could change when I finally play Black Flag from my backlog.

Just found it on Base.com for £13 with free delivery! Should be with me in a few days :)
You can play Yakuza games without having played the older ones, but you will get more out of it by at least watching a playthough of it. The main reason is the character list grows and the city remains the same. They may add a location or two with each sequel, but you end up in the same places more often than not.
Since you like Sopranos, let me put it this way, this is a bit like a mafia drama but a video game. The characters grow, the story arc may change, but parts of it follow through from the previous game. Character's relationships continue, and the characters age and change with age. You will get more out of it by at least watching the cutscenes or going over key story points if you cannot find the earlier games.
It isn;t as big as GTA, but the smaller maps are more meaningful. The players you come across feel like they have a real life and play a bigger role than most other games including Skyrim or the Witcher.

Sounds awesome, yeah I know what you're saying there are references about older games. I will start with Yakuza 0, it's coming in january I think!
