Forums - Nintendo - Info suggesting there will be a separate NX home console?

SCD?

Around the Network

We can dream, I think many home console owners won't really want a handheld and the other way around, plus, a handheld that needs a controller and a home console that has a display its not really using, are just going to increase the cost.

I hope Nintendo just makes a handheld with a TV-Out (which the nvidia supports) and a home console, everybody wins.

I think they should just forget a separate console.

Just make an SCD dock for those who are willing to pay extra and let that be that. They can release that quietly lets say for fall 2017.

The appeal of the NX currently is that there isn't really any kind of device like it on the market and the portability is a big part of that, they need to emphasize that, having a separate console model will just muddy that message and down play the appeal of one machine that can do everything.

Besides every Nintendo portable has outsold every Nintendo console of the last 20 years by a huge margin. Even the DS outsold the Wii, likely all that would happen is the portable NX that plays basically all the same games would crush a console NX's sales. Imagine the 3DS had passable/playable versions of Mario Kart 7 and Splatoon, the Wii U might not even have sold 10 million.

It's just not worth it, focus everything on your one model, the portability instantly makes it unique versus a PS4/XBox.

If the home console is separate that means it's the Wii U. Think about it, NX sounds hardly any more powerful than Wii U and Nintendo stated on more than one occasion NX is not meant to completely replace Wii U.

Nah, I think they're just gonna stick with this initial concept, if it turns out to be true that is. They likely don't want to overcomplicate things.

It's either the hybrid or a home console+handheld with similar development environments, only one or the other.

Yes I agree. Combine the Nintendo console and Handheld owners into one. "Nintendo Crossover (X)".

Pocky Lover Boy!

Just search for Nintendo Fusion.

Thais a nice thought and i wsh that is what they have i mind- BUT... they have taken the Wii U out, shot it, cursed its Mother and forsake its soul-  not to mention they  quit supporting it -   They are not going to intentioonally ramp the sales downt o 800k this year (at best) to then turn around and crownit thier new home console or the companion to the NX

If it's true, it may be cheaper? If the NX is primarily a handheld, making a version with no screen and no need for battery life would cheapen the costs a lot, like a Vita TV with the Vita.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
