at 8.44 inches x 3.5 inches the NX seems too big to be portable.

at 3.5 inches x 1.4 inches the detachable remotes seem too small to be comfortable as a home console.

Good sense of scale, but I think the screen has to be considerably bigger.

A 5.5 inch is too small to really gather around and play with other people.

Also a Tegra X1 would melt a 5.5-inch screen chasis in about 30 minutes. It needs to be bigger to allow more heat to dissipate and to allow a bigger battery. A Tegra X1 is too meaty of a chip to be in a smartphone form factor, it has to be a tablet like size.

Millions of people, even kids have no problem carrying around an iPad.

If that's what the NX is, for real. Looks like it'll be 2 Nintendo consoles in a row, that i don't own. Such a shame. :(

The screen is going to have to be about 7-inches at least I think to work in the way Nintendo really wants.

fine, make it better,.. just makes it even less portable.

Well this thing is simply not going to fit in your pocket. Even with a smaller display, that's just not going to happen.

So you might as well make it a little larger. Tablets are portable, this would be similar in size to an iPad mini (a tad wider, but shorter), but thicker.

That would be fine.

Every been inside an airport? I had like 8 kids around me in the charging area play games on their iPad/Android tablets just yesterday.

Pocket handheld is never going to work, the phone goes in one pocket of the jeans, the wallet in the other, and keys somewhere in there, there's no room for pocket portables anymore.

This was always going to have to be a tablet sized device.

A Tegra X1 cannot run inside a phone or 3DS sized form factor either. It simply cannot.

This looks interesting but still seems like a "trying to appeal to 2 demographics and failing to appeal to either" in my eyes. Too big to be portable, too weak to compete with other consoles :/

How many kids chose an iPad/tablet over a 3DS/Vita?

Larger size hasn't stopped tablets from becoming the go-to entertainment device for kids, all the pocket friendliness of the 3DS doesn't mean shit quite frankly.

Kids like the big bright display of a tablet, adults don't care about the pocket friendliness of a 3DS or Vita (barely) because they already have a phone that's mandatory for their life, plus wallet, plus keys, no way taking a 3DS or Vita is a priority for them.

A larger form factor that can play better games is a better way to go for Nintendo, as long as its not too much bigger than an iPad, Nintendo is fine. If it's about the same size as an iPad Mini, Nintendo is golden.

I would say dimensions in the range of 9 inches wide, 4.5 inches height, and 0.75 inches deep would be fine.
