Worked ok for the Wii.

Nintendo is kind of a kids company though ... they're always going to have that "kids stigma", if your brand is primarily built around 100 different mascot characters, that kind of is what it is.

Almost none of those things actually did anything, those were just hunks of plastic. Hollow shells if you will that are in no way necessary to play a certain game. The Reddit idea is more like if there would have been a dozen different types of nunchuck.

There were still plenty of Wii accessories ...

I like the idea of attachable controls for NX, I think it can open up the door to interesting things like games that use a giant track ball, or heart sensor, or a myriad of other ideas.

Lets be honest this device (NX) is not going to "win" being all serious, PS4/XB already have cornered that market, have a little fun with the design for crying out loud. At this stage you might as well.

Nintendo's heritage is as a TOY company too, that's not an insult it just is what it is.

I can't see this product working and selling well. It's going to be a niche product. Even if a new Mario game comes out its going to be limited by this hardware so effectively its going to be a portable game.which will reduce its appeal.

I admit though I don't get it and I didn't get the wii either and want to be wrong again as I hope Nintendo is successful but this is not a product I will want or buy into. I want to play games on my main tv and don't want to have to buy a tablet which I don't need to connect to a docking station to work with my tv and will be a low power console only capable of basic graphics and gameplay.

It's another gimmicky product that will limit the scope of Nintendo games to the point that the majority will not be interested.

What I want is to play great games with a fantastic controller with impressive graphics and sound. This concept will struggle a bit with the first because of its spec and completely fail on the other 2 points.

You do realize that portable Mario has sold much better than home Mario, no?

Probably a good point but I'm personally not interested so much in portable Nintendo games now.  At the time of the N64 and gameboy I was interested in Mario 64 not the gameboy mario games.

A real gaming tablet is something I really want. Nintendo making one makes it MUCH more appealing. Especially after the Wii U disappointment, where it was supposed to be a gaming tablet but wasn't at all. Instead it  ended up being a really bulky controller with a giant outdated touchscreen on it.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Same answer. There was only one Nunchuck, and not a buch of different types you'd switch between. Those other things aren't comparable. It's not about accessoiries, it's about controllers. It is a bad idea to have this do-it-yourself controller with a dozen configurations like proposed in that Reddit mockup.

But I digress, it doesn't matter. It's just something some random person cooked up anyway.
