I think they will announce Uncharted 4 sales in the PS4 Neo introduction. It will do well. Will get pass 10 million this year.

So... Retro Studios' Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country games don't contribute to the general picture of Nintendo's first party output?
OT: Nice to hear that Sony see Uncharted 4's performance as "especially well" and that it was a big part of the division's record breaking operating income. Personally, I prefer TLOU between that and UC but the success is deserved none the less. |
Hehehe Right! I was like, "Naughty Dog IS first party!"
Anyway, while I do like Sony's first party games, not all of them are as high as quality as Uncharted/TLoU. However games like GT, GOW, Gravity Rush, and Bloodborne really do make Sony's first party look stellar.

So what does it say about the games if it took 2 1/2 years for that big hit to come out, and as the article says, prior to this their biggest profile game was a moneyhatted FS title? Weird article. We already knew Uncharted is a huge franchise. If anything, it proves the power of ND games. Sony's first party as a whole is still pretty meh thus far imho. Not that MS is any better, or even as good. Thank goodness for great third party games this gen.

I actually agree here. I've been kind of bummed by this generations lack of GREAT first party as of yet. 3rd party games have been the way to go for a while now.

I look at the different games I have in my PS3 collection, and it does seem that this current gen (PS4/XBO) has a lack of variety, but I think it just goes to show the quick death of AA games, which used to fill in many slots. So for me 1st party from Sony has been ok, but 3rd party has been very safe :(

I kind of think "indie" games are filling that "AA" gap. Well, indie games and Nintendo. Look at titles like Rocket League, Severed, Freedom Planet, Splatoon, A Link Between Worlds, etc. These are titles with relatively modest budgets that punch well above their weight. With Microsoft and Sony dropping the ball vis-a-vis their homegrown titles and third-party giants playing it safe, I've found myself looking more and more to small studios and Nintendo-affiliated studios to deliver the goods.

Do you really want to start a debate about this? Especially about a title codevelopped from the beginning by Sony Japan Studio?
No wonder any subject here can derail in some kind of useless argument...
Uncharted 4 proved just how good Sony first party and naughty dog are.
Just mind blowing quality. Set a new standard.
