An animal crossing Smartphone game was expected to release this year. If they want to take advantage of that, Nintendo needs to release the game this year. 2-3months after the smartphone game.

I can't really see that happening because if they were going to release a Switch Animal Crossing that soon I think it would have been a part of the Switch presentation for two reasons; the 2017 release date of the smartphone game and because an Animal Crossing announcement would have been perfect for a presentation geared towards Japanese audiences -- probably more so than the Mario Odyssey annoucement. If there are any new 1st party annoucements at E3, I figure they're either going to be for titles slated for the 1st five months of 2018 and/or titles that are western-centric -- then again, this is Nintendo and sometimes they just do things randomly.
Great for you I guess. I haven never been an animal crossing fan. At this point I'd rather a punch out that isn't too out there but does focus on boxing.

A list could be something like this: -Super smash bros 4 port with all DLC content -Animal crossing NX -Mario Party(cheap and easy to make) -Mario game Super Mario odyssey -port of good wii u games mk8 -Spla2n splatoon 2 -Pikmin 4 -Pokemon- perhaps Pokken 2? -3rd party titles -BREATH OF THE WILD!!!!!! Launch game that should easily set some ground for the NX. Add in the other series like Kirby and you're good to go |
Overall the early predictions weren't too off... only thing people were wrong about is a sm4sh deluxe

Animal Crossing is a big game. If they release in the 2nd half SMO and Pokemon Stars it will be a little too much. They are already in a good position.
Next year I expect Smash and Animal Crossing to be the big hitters of the first half. |
Don't they usually have a 5 year gap between games?

I dont really see smartphone games getting announced like in big presentation. I can see it on Nintendo directs or an AC direct. But yeah, good point there. It needs to be out by the end of 2018 imo.
