Forums - Nintendo - What will the NX games be like?

I never thought about this yet but indeed here games on PSVita/3DS are around 38-45 euro's (44,95 digitally) and new games on Xbox and PS4 are around 55-65 (69,95 digitally) if the NX doesn't have the portable prices its a 100% no go for me since I would probably never use it as a home console since I have a PS4 which if the rumours are true, should be faster and I have a PC.

Hopefully the next 3D Mario won't be too affected by this. I want something more ambitious like in 64 and Galaxy!

Yeah, I'd love to see a Super Mario "Universe" (a true 3D Mario), but I'd like to see a continuation of 3D Land/World as well! I also think that they need to do something new with NSMB, this new format has run it's course, they need to shake things up again. Put some effort into it and change the art style again. I always thought that NSMB should take a que from Galaxy, because that game had some great 2D levels!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

There was another thread which talks about "The prices of NX games".

Link?

But this thread isn't solely about price, it's also about the design of the games. Like I argue for; I think some games will be made specifically with portability in mind (shorter sessions) while others will be made with longer sessions in mind, like Zelda

Yeah im just letting you know that these people's opinions can give you some  insight.

And wouldn't that ruin the whole "Play on the go" thing stated in this rumour? Especially if their big franchises can't even do that.

But what if the price varies from title to title? Some around $40 and some around $60?

This is a hybrid, so it's not just a handheld, which means they'll need games to reflect that. Zelda is confirmed to be coming to the NX, and that's a AAA game which you can play for hours on end.

I think Nintendo said some time ago that they'll try something new with the 2D Mario formula and move away from NSMB. Mario Maker was probably the first step in moving away from that. In regards to 3D Mario, just imagine a Mario 64-like game with XB1 graphics! Simply amazing.

It will be if its a handheld hybrid.

on-the-go, you want short levels and lots of saveing, so they can close it whenever and not lose too much progress, or make small steps of progress even on short journeys.

That would sadly mean there wont be a 3d mario like Galaxy or mario64.

There will be more Mario games like 3dworld instead.

I really hope that's not the case. Hopefully Breath of the Wild is proof that 3D Mario ( among other series) won't be affected by this.

if the Nintendo games are all priced at 45 or under, and third parties vary, Id would depend on the console, if nintendo games are priced over $50 (with there tendancy to never go down anyway) it would just be way to epxensive for a handheld

When did they say that? And what did they say? Sounds interesting at the very least! I think most people have become bored and tired of the NSMB-series, they've made 4 games with the exact same art style so there's no wonder people don't wanna play the games any more. I think they should make a new Mario Maker, maybe in like 3 or 4 years time or something.

I thought (and still do) that Galaxy looked great. What I'm hoping for is that more advanced HW will result in new mechanics, just like how the Wii resulted in Galaxy.
