Doesn't the publisher usually get a major share, especially when it owns the IP? Or do they need to pay big to google?

Nintendo isn't the publisher and they don't own the IP.  That would be the Pokemon Company.  Google and Apple get a large cut, as does the developer, Niantic.

Nintendo are part owners though, so they should get at least a good chunk

LOL who expected it to last. Unless Nintendo starts acting up their stock will never be higher than Sony's.

They'll get some revenue but it's not as if all profit gets chopped up and sent out to those who own a share.  It's a private company and most of the profit will probably stay with Pokemon Co. for reinvestment purposes.

Aside from inevitable decline in interest, it's clear thst Nintendo are not willing to give the game enough features/depth to actually compete with traditional pokemon games.

unless the money that is reinvested is just thrown away it does go to the shareholders through a higher stock price.  If they dont' sell they wont' get anything but that's how it works.  You don't need profit to get a higher stock price, that may be the endgame but reinvestment (unless it is wasted somehow) is meant to grow the company for more profit in the future.

Pokemon Co. is not publicly traded.  It's a privately owned joint venture.  Nintendo will likely see dividends based on set agreement with the other owners.

its actually kind of a good thing, it dropped because of Nintendo basically blatantly havign to repeatedly explain that they are not getting the majority of revenue from the game.

Nintendo just bringing people back down to Earth like they always do. they could have BS-ed and made it appear to investors that Pok Go was more of an effect on them than it is but they're straight shooters

Doesn't the publisher usually get a major share, especially when it owns the IP? Or do they need to pay big to google?

The pokemon company is not owned by nintendo

Its gonna drop way more than that.
This bubble of a 100% increase in nintendos stock value, is going to burst.

If you rode it from the start of the pokemon go release, good for you, you make some $.
Probably time to sell.

Why do people not understand that the implication they're making is not because mobile isn't lucrative, but because they don't own the IP, they aren't the publisher, and only had minimal involvement?

The big winners here are niantic, google, apple, and the the pokemon company.
Nintendo only owns a share of the pokemon company revenue, which is already going to be split several ways.

Nothing to do with the financial impact of mobile. In fact, had nintendo actually had the balls to make the game in the first place, they would have made infinitely more.
