I'll take the responsiblity for bringing it up first. It was just too easy a target along with the Dragonball movie.

I thought Fatal Frame was supposed to be the first live action Nintendo IP movie. The race is on!!!
In relation to my earlier comment on a potential NCU:

| Soundwave said: That's kinda .... weird. Not sure how they can make a entire movie out of that, guess it'll be something kids could enjoy. Shrugs. Seem to me like Nintendo maybe hedged on the idea of a full blown Pokemon live action movie and wanted to see Legendary/Universal handle a smaller scale concept. |
This is more of a deal between TPC and Legendary Pictures. Plus, a few have mentioned why this is a possible idea because it's easier to adapt compared to a full fledged RPG. Even Derrick from GameXplain thought this is easier to adapt since there is more storytelling and Detective Pikachu is one of the main stars, which will at least help the audience get more invested due to their familiarity with the Pokemon. I have only seen a few bits of gameplay of the game and I think it's simple and a little interesting. Hopefully this works.

It's a Spin-off currently only available in Japan, it was released earlier this year and as far as I know it's similar to the Ace Attorney series where Pikachu and his assistant have to find proofs to find out what happened in the crime scene, also to give it a twist Pikachu can talk with Pokémon while his assistant only with humans and the two of them are the only one that can comunicate inter-species. Most of the fans love it even if it's not out yet because Pikachu has an extremely deep and serious voice in Japan which of course doesn't fit it's appearance and people petitioned thousands of times for it to be ported to the west with the Voice Acting of Danny DeVito ...

This is a actually a pretty good idea, the short and the game already looked like it could be a film, I can see how a movie like this could be succesful.
