Forums - Sony - Months later, what are your thoughts on Uncharted 4

Great game, best Sullivan of the whole franchise, solid mechanics, disappointing absence of supernatural enemies and elements, lack of the memorable main OST; all in all, a great game, really. Doesn't beat Uncharted 2.

I never played multi player so I'm only going to speak about single player campaign.

At the time, it was the most beautiful game ever made. I felt compelled to play it nonstop until the end and savor each moment.  Now I look at it and it feels kind of hollow. I don't have any bad memories. I actually done have and emotions about Uncharted 4 at all. I guess it didn't resonate with me.

How about you? Best game ever? Beautiful but shallow? The new gold standard? Now that the hype and the newness have worn off, what are your honest thoughts. Feel free to post spoilers.

Uncharted 4 is the best looking console game thus far, the story is great, but the gameplay is just boring to me. I could get better climbing and exploration from an AC game, the gunplay isn't fun, bullet sponge enemies, endless grenades from enemies, little variety from combat, stealth is boring, and narrative driven chapters bring the game to screeching halt. Playing RotTR first made this feel lacking in combat and side content. People are impressed by some of the large open areas, but it ain't worth much if they feel empty.

There were a few wow moments, but for a ~14 hour game much of it felt like a slog. Some chapters almost felt unncessary, I must have spent numerous hours climbing through tedious caves and mountains.

I think I will revisit Uncharted 4 down the road just to find more collectables and spend more time reading notes. But in the gameplay department, I found it pretty average. I may just play it with auto aim and easy mode just to make it shorter.

If I was just taking the campaign into consideration, its arguably a 3/5 because gameplay is important to me. But I feel it has the best PvP of any Sony game, I'm impressed given how little I cared for UC2 and 3 PvP. So I'm giving it a 4/5.

It wasn't the fresh experience I was hoping for. But there are certainly things to like about this game.

Still the current best PS4 game - And perhaps best Uncharted game - I've played in every way.

Well what's on the list of most notable games? UC4, Infamous SS, R&C, and Bloodborne?

Infamous SS is probably my personal favorite, I found it more addictive. I kinda forced myself to finish UC4.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Define a great game then. Why can't games focus on storytelling? Why do some gamers hate that so much?

What is your favorite game? Go ahead and elaborate. Why is Uncharted shallow? What game is superior?

I'm still currently playing the game, I'm close to the end, and I basically just want it to be over.
It looks fantastic, but all in all I find the game rather boring and repetitive; 80% of the game is climbing around, which is fool-proof with the only challenge of finding the right spot. The rest is gunfights with enemies, which I didn't enjoy much.

The story was top-notch, but most of the gameplay was dull/slow burn.

Really liked it, great story and best gameplay of the series. Love the multiplayer too, but I'll stop doing ranked matches because of the really really bad matchmaking. Too bad, it could have been awesome with a bit of balance in the teams (tired of losing matches with a score of 2500-3000 when the second best player of my team has a score of 500...).

Who are you asking?

Storytelling was good, graphics where good for PS4 but I have seen better, obviously, when you see 4k on pc your minds will be blown, anyway, overall it was a very good end to a great series, has impressive scenes and single player moments and its a must-play for any ps4 owner, its not the best game ever made and its not the best game naughty dog made, that would still be the last of us for me.
