It's better to discuss operating profit to see how a company and it's products are currently performing. And actually if you add together the 5 fiscal years you have their that's still a loss (all be it less then a billion yen.) So your argument is pretty flimsy. But if you want to discuss the performance of the 3ds, WiiU and Nintendo's Games Operating Profit is the one you want to look at.

The operating is on rise, so that's definitely positive.
Yes they are currently minus around 1b yen and that's around $9.5m, but with current fiscal year they will sold profit overall, they targeting 35b yen profit for year ending march 2017, and thats around $335m.
So at end, despite Wii U is their worst selling console ever, they will solid profit this gen.
Slimebeast said: How much is that in Dollars? Yearly revenue of around $6 billion? A bit bigger than Xbox, AMD and Nvidia, but a bit smaller than Sony's gaming revenue. And the Nintendo profit numbers, the bottom line is that they have broke even during those five years? |
1b yens is $9.5m, previus year they made profit of around $150-160m, for curent year they aim 35b yen of profit in dolars around $335m..

Of Course, that's my point, even they get performed much less than they expected (thanks to Wii U), they will end up with solid profit, and of course they will not consider leaving hardware market.

Basically the company has gained a little money, but the products (3ds, WiiU, Games) have lost money.

I don't think that around $300m of profit will be little money.
