It feels like when you catch a pokemon for the first time its overall encounter rate increases. Ive seen 3 pigeottos and a lot hitmonlees and untill catching yesterday I had never seen em.

Had the exact same problem. Server issues landed me with a Bulbasaur, and the only Charmander (and only starter) I've found in the wild ran away after I failed to catch it the first time D:

Ok, your right. Honestly I love the original 3, but I wanted Charmander. Its doesn't matter now though unless encounter rate increases. Im thinking about powering a Abra. I seen enough of them and its Pokemon I see nobody else using in a gym.

Another idea is "type" candies. You catch a Fire type, your rewarded Fire candy.

did you have incense on?

Also sometime the list does not update and the hitmonlee could have just spawned there before the nearbye located had a chance to refresh.

I downloaded it to see what all of the fuss was about, since this wasn't part of my generation, as i was already 19 when it first came out. There were surprisingly 5 Pokemon right at my house, since i live in the woods. At my house were: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Weedle, Pidgey, and Paras.

I've caught various rares in the wild but had the same complaint about my starter.Seems pointless to think of evolving starters/rares. Better to just wait until you can find an evolved version in the wild.
