Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pewdiepie responds to Warner Bros scandal

So it seems that a lot of the media have dragged his name through the dirt just for clickbait articles.

Pewdiepie claims that the video was made 2 years ago were disclosing paid videos was a grey area. The FTC didn't introduce clear guidlines until last year, even that said, Pewdiepie did disclose it was a paid promotion in the description. While a lot of other Youtubers didn't even bother because they weren't "required" to do so, Pewdiepie still made it clear it was a paid promotion. Although it was found that the FTC were at fault, his name seems to get mention in a negative light by the media.

Here's his vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JqJDRkKlt8

Seems like something a responsible journalist would have noticed had any research been done prior to posting the article.

His video said something along the lines of "sponsored by Warner Bros" at the bottom of a description in the video which 99% of people would never click to see. Its misleading and dishonest, and that's why it was put there instead of in the actual video. He deserves to be called out for it, he put money ahead of honesty with his fans.

It is not misleading or dishonest, if it was dishonest that would imply he is lying, he did not lie.

Not sure how he "put money" ahead of honesty with his fans either. He did disclose it was a sponsored video, and if he made it blatantly obvious he was sponsored it wouldn't have affected the money.

Media do not care, they can say anything to get hits with no backlash. While they are doing this they can damage peoples reputations.

And they know that a vast majority of people will never look in the area where it says its sponsored, which is exactly why its put there and not in the video. WB wants people to think these are unbiased positive opinions about their game and not bought and paid for positive shilling and PDP was more than happy to take their check and oblige.

You can't be serious with that.

Are you going to complain when Selena Gomez wears a gucci dress on her instagram without telling you what it is?

Pewdiepie is not a reviewer, he rarely gives his "opinions" on how good a game is, he can play absolutely trash games and not say they're bad once. He just makes jokes, laughs and pisses about.

I gotta support LudicrousSpeed on this. PewDiePie might be able to escape from the controversy by technicality, but this episode proves he's untrustworthy and that his opinions are for sale.

But the media isn't about telling real stories. Only about getting the most clicks to get paid.
We have the power to make a difference, but in most cases, what the media will do is feed into the drama of the console war and what not so no matter how poor their reporting is, they will always be defended by one side or another.
