I was waiting for this topic to pop up in the Amazon thread. No, they're not resting on their laurels, they're sticking to their plan.

The PS5 Exists.

It's part of the Sony cycle:

Big success Sony -> Arrogant Sony -> I need to sell Buildings Sony -> Big success Sony... etc.

Right now they are on the "Big success Sony" side of the scale. They will soon get to the Arrogant part.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Clearly they should make a digimon go, only to see it fail they blame it on Vita owners even though it released on mobile, thereby attacking their sad forgotten username to the 7th demission.

I think there should be an entire thread dedicating to people predicting what building Sony will sell next. Any guesses?

I guess you could argue that they're less focused on directly countering their competitions moves, but i wouldn't call that "resting on their laurels". They're still actively engaged with their audience, they clearly have a lot of games in development, and they're pushing forwards with multiple different hardware projects.

All that's really changed is that their market position is such that they can focus more on their own moves than their competitions. They can put more resources into stuff like PSVR, without having to worry as much about how its success or failure could impact their position.

There is plenty of discussion to be had on the effectiveness of the moves they're making, and what they can do better, but they're clearly not sitting around doing nothing.

Dunno - I don't buy Sony consoles.

I wouldn't call all the software and hardware in the pipeline 'resting,' but they aren't exactly in 'dominate the competition' mode either. Nintendo, Valve, and even MS have proven to be no real threat this gen.

To be fair, Nintendo did the arrogant thing first with that infamous "we don't need you, we've got Phillips!" move, later followed by the "if it has Wii in the title, it will sell truck loads" situation.  There is also the "lol we can sell the 3DS for any price and people eat it up" event, if we're counting handhelds.

Sony had the PS3 launch and Vita memory cards, while Microsoft had the Xbox One launch and GFWL, so Nintendo is still in the lead.

Nah, Sony is doing everything they can. But nobody cares, because everyone is busy playing Pokemon Go, sry. =D
