Connected and never worry about batterylife, is worth the minor annouyance a cable can be.

I'm fine with any controller that functions well. So the only controller that probably wouldn't work well with me is the Xbox duke.

Wireless.

No more are the days when I would be playing NES/SNES and someone crosses by getting tripped by the wire causing the system to crash losing all my progress.

I mean, eventually you'll have to have a wire attached to charge the controller but I use wireless more.

The cords are so short I have to keep controller wireless as much as possible. I don't want to play from the floor. Wireless is also slightly more convenient, but I don't mind wired either.

Consoles: wireless. The cables are always in the way in front of my TV

PC: connected. The cables of the mouse, keyboard and gamepad are no problem there.

Most controllers in early 2000s were wired also unless you threw down a little more money to get the wireless versions of GC, PS2, Xbox controllers.  I still have 4 Wavebird controllers (Nintendo's wireless controllers for GC) because I had a lot of issues with the c stick (yellow joystick) messing up and b buttons sticking on the regular wired GC controllers.  Some reason I kept getting defective wired GC controllers and the issue never went away until I went to Wavebirds and finally didn't experience any b button or c stick issues with them.

Wireless of course. This isn't 2004 anymore. Cords are a hassle. I just use one to play while charging my controller.

Buy a USB extension cord. I have a 3m one. You just plug your regular micro USB charging cord to it, plug it on the console and you can play normally while charging the controller.
