Forums - Gaming - The most unfair Game Overs you've ever experienced

Halo 5: Guardians, Warzone Firefight. This game is perfectly balanced in every aspect other than Firefight. Some rounds are just terribly unfair. Sometimes it spawns bosses that inexplicably regenerate health unless you keep suppressing them with gunfire non-stop. But that is impossible since the bosses are surrounded by minions who kills you unless you suppress them as well. Now that's all fine except for the fact that the bossess regenerate for no reason. Like WTF guys, you give us five minutes to slaughter hundreds of minions and three bossess who just run around and gain all of their health before players can reach them. Not to mention that most of the time, you don't have enough points to get a weapon strong enough to scratch their armor.

This specific rant is about the gosh darn Soldier Commandos from the Skirmish at Dark Star map. They spawn in a Mantis-walker each and two of them are guarded by like 30 minions who respawn all too quickly and then there's of course the regeneration of their health.... This was probably made to make it more challenging, but not in a fair way. To think that one of my favorite game series of all time is making me so frustrated.

Played through The witcher 3 for the second time on new game plus, death march. Eredin down to enough health where end cut scene ends and you kill him. I was around half health, just a bit over.... It gives me game over screen instead of cut scene. Saved the video too... Here it is.

Hmm.. Off the top of my head, the game that I think of is Red Dead Redemption. It had some really nasty random encounters or situations that were huge spikes in difficulty almost to the point that you were meant to die from it.

The woman asking for help while standing near a broken wagon. Once you got pretty close to it, several bandits would spawn in a big cluster within a few feet of ya. I would rarely use the dead eye/freeze time ability. I died I don't know how many times in a fraction of a second from this random encounter because they were clustered up and so close to me.

The other situation that was more common but more frustrating cause of death for me are the mountain lions in that game. One would be chasing me and I wouldn't be aware of it. I slow down or stop at some point, the cat runs up and kills the horse so swiftly before I could react. I fall to the ground and the cat runs up to me, paws me to death before I could get up. The noises they made were very easy to miss.

Those were the most frustrating deaths in a game to me.

ugh. I've been playing it on new game plus on death march difficulty...... It's no joke. I'm currently at point where I'm high enough level to mess around with the expansions. Trying to get that trophy where you have to aggro all of the iris' greatest fear enemies and fight 'em is impossible on that difficult in new game plus.

I am currently replaying Skies of Arcadia on the Gamecube and was doing the second Piastol battle a few days ago and she was down to literally less then 100 HP so instead of doing my usual Attack, Delta Shield (Blocks spells), Heal, Justice Shield (cuts damage in half) with my party members, I just attacked with all 4 which would end the battle in a single hit... Bad choice as Piastol goes first and casts Eternes which is an instant death spell that targets everyone and has a 25 to 50% chance to hit each party member....It not only hits but it hits everyone..... Game Over.... :(

Ah... good old cpu friendly rng, can't stand fights that come down to a % chance and the cpu decides it's going to win, it's like if you try to win a coin toss against a sentient coin that hates you, pokemon is another tool for that.

"It hurt itself in confusion"

"It hurt itself in confusion"

"It hurt itself in confusion"

"It hurt itself in confusion"

"It hurt itself in confusion"

"It hurt itself in confusion"

so annoying when you get that ... or that and paralysed together is just the end of days annoyance

The correct answer is always Knights Contract's boss QTEs. Soooooo bad.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I know it's not the game's fault... but yesterday I was finally beating Champion's Road in SM3DW, I got right next to the flagpole and then I ran out of time.

Everything's fine though, I played it this morning and eventually beat the level.

Final boss in Bravely Default... I wasn't dealing damage and was taking forever, due to my sort of cheap tactic-that-requires-me-to-control-every-character-every-turn so I thought it was one of those mandatory you must lose battle, but it turns out it wasn't :/

So I had to fight that boss alllll over again
