Epic. I hope if I enjoy this one (I probably will) they make one (maybe just the OG saga...) for the Wii.

Also, question. Those vids you posted are battle scenes, right (HP bar, etc.)? They just look like regular cutscenes lol. I don't get it.

If they make a console SRW game (a real one) and localize it for the US/UK... I will own the console it's for.

Period.

Those are battle scenes. Every battle scene in SRW is like a cutscene... just some attacks are flashier than others. Think of it like Fire Emblem, only instead of having 1 attack per character... you have half a dozen or more. ^_^

I wouldn't get your hopes up WoW.  GBA game sales worldwide were what?  Under 500K?  I can't imagine there is a whole lot of incentive to localize these games anymore.

Well, I guess they don't really need Monolith Soft but I think they'd rather have Monolith Soft anyway. Since Monolith Soft is now owned by Nintendo I'll assume a console SRW would be on the Wii. And you already own a Wii so that's good.

And those are some crazy battle scenes then. How do you actually fight in those scenes, btw? All I see is you touch something then it fights by itself or something? Please explain the battle system if you can ^^

And the music is pure EPIC. I very much like that techno/rock mixture of music in VGs.

SRW is a sRPG.  You move the characters, select the attack, and then watch the fight.  Think about it like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, or Gadget Trials.

Here's a gameplay vid:

I know.  Believe me, I know.

I can hope though.  It's one of the most amazing sRPGs I've played both in story and presentation.   It deserves to see audiences outside Japan.

That's why I'm hopin it goes PS3.  As this is the one series i'm not above importing.  If you end up liking the battle system for an SRPG it's really easy to memorize the couple minor details you need in the spirit special skills.

You do lose the cool story though.

I agree.  I'm doing SRW-J off and on, and I've gotta say that seeing the Nadesico appear in the first map and fire the gravity cannon was spectacular.  Plus you don't have to know too much Japanese to recognize the simple atacks.  ^_^

I don't see one going to PS3. They'll probably need Monolith Soft which is only attained by going to Nintendo. Also, I don't see the need to put a game that sells most in Japan and does a lot less then 500k sales on a system which isn't doing well in Japan, unlike the Wii which is doing fantastic there.

But then again I know you only want any main series SRW on the PS3 just so you can import it if it isn't localized lol.

Btw, I love the fact the robots use swords (best weapons of all time, btw) instead of some stupid laser guns like in a lot of mech games (I hate guns. Regular more so than laser.. But I see in the trailer guns + swords, which is cool too. I only really like guns in Japanese games, particulary RPGs. That's the only case I like guns in. And I like swords + guns a lot more than just swords.

I wonder when this will be released.

They have laser and regular guns as well, and missles. fists, pile driver... which is basically a couple spikes that drive into armor... nets... a Bow and arrow.

Lots of different kidns of weapons. Seems you'll like the "Super Robots" better then the Real Robots.

Super Robots are giant ones that tend to use more swords, and rocket punches and the like.

@ WoW, yeah the Nadesico is probably my favorite battleship. After watching Nadesico too i got a better appreciation for the characters... and got to see a pretty entertaining show.

That and Tekkaman Blade... (the small guy with the pilot who's name starts with an english D.) If you upgrade him a bit he becomes an unstoppable beast.

i have to say it

So what about you?  Super or Real?

Btw, how long and tough are these games?

Difficulty is interesting.

For example, in OG/OG2, you get things called Battle Mastery conditions in each battle. Usually they involve killing X number of units, finishing the map in Y turns, or getting Z enemy down to a certain percent of health. If you fulfill the condition you get a skill point. The more skill points you collect, the harder the game gets. So if you start getting all the skill points the game goes into Hard mode. You fail to get a few, the game drops down into Normal and then Easy. So the difficulty fluctuates based on how well you play.

Of course, if you decide to avoid getting them and go through the easy way, that's okay too. Just know that you need a majority (if not all) the skill points to unlock secret missions at the end of the game.

The game length is a bit more interesting though. In the first OG, you have two main characters to select from that later meet up about 1/3-1/2 way through the story. So you get different backgrounds by choosing different characters. There's also a New Game+ after you finish the game too. In OG2, you start it the same way but there are 3 points during the game where you can choose where to go and the story branches a little bit. Depending on where you go you can get different pilots/mechs/weapons...etc. Of course, OG2 also has New Game+. Each game has roughly 50-60 scenarios which can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or more to beat as well.

For me? It's hard to say. I like the Real Robots better but that's more due to gameplay style then anything.

I like the characters that can dodge more, vs the bosses Super Robots tend to be a huge problem. Often times they get more riders and more spirit to use to make up for it... but often it's a problem.

Also some of the units like the combattler units are just too clunky looking

Then again Tekkaman Blade is my favorite unit in the series and he's mostly a Super "Robot" by design, though he isn't really a robot I think.

Also some of the "Real Robots" i perfer do tend to have more "strange" abilities.

For OG series in OG1 my favorite robot was the Wild Schwein... and in OG2 it was the R-Blade.

Dodging and attacking back is just more my style then the clunky giant robots.

How about you?
