People seem incredibly keen on discussing the multiplayer in No Man's Sky so I thought I'd create a dedicated thread. I myself am quite happy it's singleplayer. And what are your concerns for the game?

The PS5 Exists.

My concern with the whole game concept is, that it will get boring really fast.

My concern is that it's the new Spore, focusing on scale via a procedurally generated universe over content. The more I've seen from the game the more discouraged I've become about it, and the whole lack of multiplayer (or at least the last time I read it was near impossible to ever meet with anyone) thing was very disappointing in a console market that currently seems mostly devoid of co-op games of this sort... my buddy and I have been stuck playing GTA V and Farcry 4 for quite some time now. I keep trying to talk him into getting a PC, but it does not appear it will be happening lol
Anyway, I hope the game proves me wrong and maybe the explorable history of that universe (via the brilliant hiring of Dave Gibbons to flesh out the background lore) will keep me intrigued, but that's about the only feature that I'm excited about at this point. I just worry it's a game that will grow stale very quickly.
I want the multiplayer. Why won't people realise its better to have options?
Wait there is a multiplayer option? How exactly is that going to work? Either way, I'm worried that the game will becoming repetitive all too quickly. Yes, the concept seems exciting, but only for so long.
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I agree with my twin John.
I think the Spore comparison is perfect. This is a really ambitious project from a team that means well, but I expect it to be, well, boring after a while.

Haha we agree again!
Really though, I'd recommend people google the initial presentations for both Spore and No Man's Sky... the comparison has been stuck in my head for some time now as they're virtually identical.
The unfortunate thing for Spore, of course, is that Will Wright apparently had a far more complex game in mind that was simplified to a stupifying degree. Given his history, I completely believe that rumor lol
I do have a little bit of a concern it will be repetitive and not live up to expectations but what I've seen enough to want this game.
My other concern is that Hello Games is small team and the only other games they've made is Joe Danger. Although Joe Danger is a great game, they don't have any history in making games with huge scope or even games in this genre. Will this effect the quality and will there be teething problems making something completely new?
But I do have faith in Sean Murray and I believe that they can make this work.

Surprise, the first comments are all negative.
I guess I should start taking these threads for what they mostly are: people stating their opinions, and seeing who agrees with them.
Maybe I'm old school, but I've always gone into an unfamiliar game with excitement. I never think "oh man, this isn't a straight forward FPS? It must be garbage". Isn't something new WORTH checking out every once in a while? Why immediately assume the worst all the time?
