Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Games Visual/Graphics Death Battle Showdown Armaggeddon of Death

Nintendo is constantly praised for the artstyle of their games.

Conversations get a little more polarized as Nintendo's artstyle is compared to more realistic games, so I thought, how about we take other companies out of the equation and pin Nintendo against Nintendo to determine what Nintendo game has the most beautiful, the most original worlds, the best designed characters and smart use of hardware to determine the best looking Nintendo game?

There is a popular opinion that hardware specs differences between consoles is not a factor to determine how beautiful the artstyle and graphics of a game can be, so feel free to mention Nintendo games from the NES and beyond.

What game do you think is Nintendo's best looking game to date?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Wii U NNID:  CWegzz
3DS Friend Code:  4210-5277-5484
PSN:  Ronnoc4
Steam:  CWegz

:/ tricky question, I'd say either Wind Waker HD or NSMBU (cartoony=more longevity, and them booth beeing HD means they won't look awful any time soon...)

It depends, on the Wii I would say Skyward Sword, but on Wii U... Mario Kart 8 for sure.

Mario Kart 8. I think Mario Kart 8 looks better than Zelda U :-3

I'll have to go with The Windwaker HD, followed closely by the OG Windwaker. Amazing looking game. Also, Mario Galaxy is still an absolutely gorgeous game, though it may be slightly exclipsed by XCX... Which may be eclipsed by MK8.

If we're including games that have yet to be released, Breath of the Wild looks at least as good as WW, but I'll have to wait and see if the dungeons and characters are as brimming with atmosphere and charm before I can say it definitely looks better.

I really like the Windwaker...

Not to be "that guy", but something that bothers me, why is the distinction made between "art style" and "realism"? Isn't realism, you know, also a specific art style? Why not "realism" and "non-realism"?

Mario Kart 8, and I'll stand behind that 100%. I doubt even anything that launches alongside the NX will look as good (except if, of course, that game is Mario Kart 8).

Pikmin 3 also deserves praise. Probably the best looking Nintendo game that goes for realism.

bet: lost

I'm still amazed at how Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a gamecube game. It looks better than the vast majority of Wii games.

Honestly I still want to say Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Playing the game in HD just really brings it to life.
