Forums - Gaming - Good games with bad/lame soundtracks

Spiritual brother of this other thread:

What are some games that make you go: "all dev guys worked their asses putting a sweet game and the people in charge of the soundtrack just had to come up and shit on it all by chosing/composing those songs"?

So yeah, this thread is about good games to which their OST makes them a disservice.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

This is gonna be an opinion everyone disagrees with, but I don't like a huge majority of Smash 4's remixes.

With a few exceptions, like Destroyed Skyworld and The Valedictory Elegy, most of the remixes sound, with lack of better words, dumbed down and forced.

I can't stand the guitar remix of Gaur Plain, it just sounds stupid.

Ugh that damn Gaur Plains theme...XC has such an amazing soundtrack so why not just use more based songs?

Speaking of, XCX is a game which fits the bill. After 100 hours I still can't stand the rapping and most songs just are forgettable. Yes there's a couple of gems but a strong song does not a great soundtrack make.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I wouldn't call it bad, but XCX had en extremely uneven soundtrack. Some tracks, like the field themes in Cauldros, Noctilum, and Oblivia, were superb. Others, like the NLA themes, made me want to put a power drill through my eardrum.

Back in the day VGChartz used to give prizes, consoles and videogames, to the person with the biggest number of points for the month. Back in the day points were worth something.

Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver's butchered Gold/Silver/Crystal's amazing soundtrack, but I still love the game.

You mention the field themes but forget the best one?! Primordia is among the best tracks on the game darnit!

No such game exists, if you have a bad soundtrack well then you're a bad game. Simple.

I think that covers almost everything from last gen and this gen..although that includes good and bad games. Surprisingly there's a lot of lesser games that absolutely destroy the more loved games in terms of soundtracks.
