The choice is always there for a console unless Microsoft decides to drop the console (the door is wide open now for Microsoft to do that).

Sure if your like me who plans on buying a 4k PC setup soon, i know many friends that would pick an Xbox console. Also seems they forget what Xbox means for them and the market. High end PC users are into premium gaming, Xbox is also a house device that plays Blu Ray movies and 4k videos (Slim). |
Steam link costs like.... $50. Having to have a PC in the same room you use it isn't really a valid argument anymore lol, and streaming to a display in another room is just going to become more and more prevalent with time.
| Azzanation said: The ignorance of people shooting down Xbox because of Win10 PCs. The day Xbox dies is the same day every one plugs there PCs in there living room. Honestly what a joke haha Anyway those that hate Xbox but are happy to buy there controllers and software, just remember your still supporting the same people. There games must be in demand if everyone is dieing to play them on PC. |
I don´t think there is as much ignorance, as their is an agenda for those people to try and find any negative they can find on XBox, and run with it. But alot of them will now buy MS games and controllers, making me happier as an XBox gamer :).

So it´s ok for Sony and Nintendo to release games on two platforms with their own operating system but not for MS? And people need to start to think rationally here: gamers don´t get consoles for the exclusives, but for convinience and the appearance of a lower entry price. But I guess the OP knows at. |
i have no doubt some people will be swayed to get a PC instead of an xbox because of this. but a lot of people simply just want a console, to put under their tv, connect it and just play and have the convinience of a console. and if they want to play the games MS is publishing, they will opt for a xbox instead of playstation or nintendo, because he wont care if halo and gears are on PC and he can play them there.

This. That lowers the amount of applicable people as well. After this gen lets see how Microsoft likes the idea.
No, but its not because everything is on PC but because the Xbos 1 lacks exclusive games which interests me. So far its only Raiden V and the other are Recore and Scalebound. But thats not enough to warrant a purchase

Xbox software? There is no such thing. there is just MS published games. hereis the issue. Think of Xbox like steam for PC. MS doesmt just make momey from selling MS published games. They make money from selling any game thats played on an xbox. Thats the whole point of consoles from a business perspective. Now if no one is buying an Xbox, cause they can get "xbox games" on the PC. Chances are they buy most of their third party games from steam. And MS doesn't get money from those. I can't understand how people seem to think that all the main reasons for buying an xbox being on PC wouldn't some how affect the sales of the xbox. Ah well..... To OP. people that just hate or cant wrap their heads around playing on PC will still buy a console. Only difference is that MS has completely now lost the market of people that have a decent PC but would have bought an xbox just to play xbox exclusives. |
Well, that's just semantics. Call them what you will.
I'm sure there will be some PC owners who had been on the fence about Xbox hardware who will now refuse to buy an Xbox One. But there will also be people who never intended to buy an Xbox One who will now, for the first time, buy MS published games.
The question is this: how big and impactful is the "market" you describe in your final paragraph. I'd argue it's small and relatively unimportant in terms of Xbox hardware sales.
Has there been new Scorpio news or something? The fear is real!
And no, Xbox will keep going, despite the wishes of some fans. Fans who don't understand that competition is good for everyone, those type of people are definitely not gamers.

I agree. If anything is going to sink Xbox it's going to be a lack of must-have software, not the fact that its must-have software is also available on PC.
