Should the Nintendo NX be delayed to the Holiday season 2017?

Its really hard to say.Nintendo is in a position now that everything it could potentially can have a negative side. But all in all I think a march release is not a bad idea. For the first months the console will sell to the fans and enthusiasts, like it is for every console. But by the time the holidays come, which is the time the more casuals buy consoles, the NX will have a much better and atractive library than it would have had if it launched in the holidays.Plus, I think that, even if the Neo launches inmarch with Scorpio in the holidays, this time before the christmas sales will serve to prove that NX is a capable piece f hardware(if it ends up being that I mean) which in turn can be better for Nintendo, in turning the Nintendo haters or people that lost faith in Nintendo in general back to their console.

We are still in a point that we cant be sure of nothing, because we dont have enough information about it.Hopefully by the end of August they reveal the NX and we know what the hell it is(and because then there will be a chance they demo it on gamescon which I will be attending!!!!)

March is not a great time to launch, but it is what it is at this point, they missed the holiday season but they can't afford to have a third bad launch in a row (3DS and Wii U prior to this, in fact DS launch wasn't great either, Wii was good but mainly because they took Zelda from the GameCube).

I think at least there is Golden Week there in April/May in Japan and they want that period, maybe they could have Splatoon 1.5 or even Splatoon 2 ready by that time (the first Splatoon would be 2 years old by that point).

There's no beneficial financial standpoint of why Nintendo should delay NX. Wii U has NO games coming for it besides Zelda BotW and Paper Mario and a few other lesser games. No need to delay NX to sell a console that has no new games coming for it. Wii U is finished after March 2017. Scott Moffit said to grab a Wii U while you can, and that indicates that Wii U support is dead to Nintendo and subsequently all 3rd parties.

No, its never about being the "most" powerful.

If they're going to power route they just need to offer something notably better than PS4

Well considering the results of what the RX480 is capable of none of these next systems should target 4k gaming! But regardless of all that, even if the NX is slightly more powerful than XbOne and PS4 it can still have support for UHD media playback.

4K native output on the Scorpio looks like being impossible to achieve in visually demanding games. IMO 4K output is a complete sham on consoles until it's able to be achieved natively. Therefore I don't think Nintendo should be chasing the 4K wild goose. Therefore I don;t think Nintendo should be delaying NX to beef it up any more. If it can do 1080p 60fps with decent quality graphics then I don;t see any need for more than that.

All devs will have to make games that can play on "legacy" PS4 and Xb one consoles, and if NX is comparable to "phase 1" 8th gen MS and Sony hardware then third parties have no excuse for excluding NX support on the basis of the hardware being underpowered.

This idea really doesnt make much sense, you cant significantly change the specs of a console and have games make use of the increased specs in a matter of months. Supposedly Sega tried that with the Saturn and it caused the console to cost alot more and made games much more difficult to develop. The last thing Nintendo needs is an expensive console that is difficult to develop for.

The only logical reason for NX getting delayed would be if their planned launch/post-launch titles arent ready and they need to avoid software droughts.

No, March 2017. is fine, also NX can easily have 4k suport same like XB1 S have.

Holiday season so they can make the NX as powerful as it needs to be? Or should they just go with their current plan for a March 2017 release?

I think they will reveal the thing in september, with a march release date. Anyways, how do we know their current plans apart from some rumours saying that the console is stronger than ps4, and other rumours saying that the console is weaker? could go either way cause nobody knows...  NX could have a gpu made out of adamantium.

I'd get it if ithat's the case.  I'd be willing to spend at least $50 on that

At this point in time, I think it's too late to keep delaying it. Any more and it'll probably hurt the NX. The only reason it should ever continue to delay is to ensure a good line up.
