Are you referring to FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns? Those spin-off games weren't even made by the team that is making FFXV, I don't see how you can relate them to it.

Referring to XIII and XIV(OG)

Well, if you count XIV (1.0) as a separate game and ignore A Realm Reborn, then you're just reaching to try and justify your position. A new director (Hail YoshiP) had to come in and right the ship for FF14, and Tabata is trying to do the same with FF15.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

I never was hyped for this, not even when it was called Versus. Yeah the movies looked nice but that's all it was.

The announcements last year with the movie and all got my spirits up a little but then I played the second demo...

The movie might be a nice card up their sleeves, but it better be a very very good one...

I'll buy the damn game day one, play it in it's entirety and probably will say afterwards it was a fine/decent game. But no Final Fantasy old days game.

The reason I brought up those games is to mention how SE has been struggling to reinvent FF in every mainline title since FFX to poor results - XII being the only bright spot.  They couldn't figure out what they were doing with XIII so they had XIII Versus on the side - which is now XV - in development hell in attempts to reinvent the reinvention.

Again, it's not a matter of "trying to fix" FF like the cases you mentioned.  It's the "reinvent the wheel" mentality since X that paints SE as confused about what FF actually is and what they actually want to do with it.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

It's dogma, plain and simple herd mentality. When a group of naysayers detract from a game, the one's who are looking forward to it tend to stay away from the discussion and vice versa.

Although it could be because the one's who are looking forward to the game have seen everything they would need to see, so they don't feel the need put in their input.

I feel like innovation is a cornerstone of the series though. The only reason we hadn't seen a full action RPG yet is because of technology constraints. They tried to change a ton with each entry. :-/

I'm on media blackout right now. I am glad they haven't spoiled the entire game through trailers and video features. Only showing the same few parts and refraining from giving it all away.

I'm still hyped for it, and after playing the demos, I'm confident what they're going for will be fun, gameplay-wise. The Duscae demo didn't sell it for me at first, but as I delved deeper into it, I ended up asking for more.

In any case, I'm waiting for september 30th so my Ultimate Collector's Edition finally arrives. The movie looks phenomenal, the game looks better than anything that's been released in the franchise since FF XII, and I welcome the gameplay changes they're going for this time around. I'm not really concerned about the gameplay changes from title to title all that much. I know a lot of people wish the series had remained to the ATB systems of yore, but I really don't mind a more action oriented battle system. In fact, for all the flak FF XIII received, I actually quite enjoyed its battle system, even if it was quite different from what had come before. Although the rest of the game... Not so much.

But FF XV seems to have an interesting and intriguing story, great characters with good interactions between them (unlike FF XIII), and gameplay features, like airship, chocobos and overall exploration seem to bring back a lot of the stuff that went missing after FF IX.

So yeah, Final Fantasy XV is currently my most anticipated game this year.

I don't think the hype has died or anything. I think people are just now waiting for the game to finally come out.
