Forums - Sony - A PS4 Slim model along the Neo? New Rumors

Well having 3 models for the next 5 years would be perfect. Super cheap slim, regular ps4 and a power model.

Now getting rid of the regular ps4 in favour of the slim would be a bad idea if the neo doesn't cost too much more. You do need a price gap.

It's just matter of time when this thing will happen. And it's 100% going to happen.
It will be great if they make PS4 Neo and PS4 Slim the same console!

One guy completely speculates that there will be a slim with nothing concrete to base this off of other than a hunch. Sounds legit.

Releasing a slim and then adding more power to the Neo would make sense.

PlayStation got caught slipping with the 4K Blu Ray XB1 slim?

Or, did they just not want to hurt PS4 sells.

I am corious how they will make the PS4 even slimmer. I hope they make the powersupply external and aim for the same size like the Wii U

You don't need an analyst to know that this was coming.

yeah but the PS4 is allready small enough, they just could keep producing in this form factor.

It's not that hard really. As of the end of last year, with the last PS4 refresh, the board in the system was already a third smaller than what it originally launched with. And that was all due to combining certain components and using less ram chips. they will no doubt make other adjustments, hell they can even decided to make the PSU external and that did be enough to shrink it down significantly if they just wanna make a statement.

anyways, this was inevitable. All that remains is if they meet my $250 price point expectation for it lol.

Concrete? Can you think of a single PS generation without a slim SKU? Go on, there have been all of four of them so far.

hell the PS3 had two slim refreshes.

The PS2 slim had an external PSU, I can imagine them doing it again. That would be enough to not only make it smaller, but also take away some of the heat.

If you look at the original ps4 and xb1 insides, you will notice a huge difference. The xb1 is something like 25% hollow. Like, just open air.
The ps4 however, is packed to the gills in perfectly form-fitting hardware.
It's like night and day comparing the two.

I just dont see how ps4 can release a ps4 slim of any major significance. As you can see, it's to the gills. The x1 on the other hand has like finger widths of space in between all the components, and even a giant plastic bed for the hard drive, which couldv'e been made way more economical. Hell, the entire back portion of it couldve been fit in the front.

i need to put the word analyst into my sig so that everytime i say a thing it is taken as truth.
