Wait so you were a console gamer in 2014 but were part of the PC gamers who refused to pay for GFWL in 2009? but at the same time were paying for xbox live gold, also your rapir account seems to suggest the max number of achievements you have in a X360 game is 11/42 and psn achievements are non existant, maybe there's something I'm missing here.

Of all the things about this thread though, nothing of its creation is the least bit shocking to me.

What does his gamerscore have to do with the topic at hand?. You seem to be digging into him, like playing some forced devils advocate to steer away the main subject being discussed and trying to throw in some personal information at hand, it almost reminds me of one dude accusing me of being some stalker for having my own Steam profile made private, it made no sense and he tried to argue the general want for priacy while also trying to defeat me through looking at how many games I have in my library, something which had nothing to do with what we were originally talking about.

Is there a ultra specific reason you are going at him with his gaming history towards the subject or is there some deeper meaning to this that I otherwise don't know about?.

Sure there is, read my posts, they're fun and full of information.

Someone stalking you? That's weird, unrelated but weird. Also I've no idea what the word Priacy means, Privacy? Piracy? But I hope you came back to defeat that person (in a game? on the internet? in a fight? I've no clue what you mean)

What? Might be true of the X1 titles, but I still have a ton of X360 title licences from when that console was my system of choice. Month comes up, games are added to your account, simple as that, unsub and keep the games forever.

And when the servers go down you won't be downloading those again, unless another official server is in place, how long they will be up for we don't exactly know.

Servers might go down indeed, Maybe steam will close one day and all the PC games will be gone! we don't exactly know, How long will it all last?

I mean obviously if you just download the games and back them up to a removable drive you can still play in offline mode so should the need arise we can always just download our games before that happens!

I'm talking of you speaking of his "console history" in regards to his profile and gamerscore, reading that you read up that line of information wasn't really fun nor interesting whichw as why I originally questioned as to what meaning it had to this specific topic.

Privacy, typos be damned and no I didn't wish to defeat said person, I chose to ignore him instead because his ramblings ended up deviating from the topic and mods on the site are very "hands off" with dealing with a few nutcases.

Ah okay it was just I couldn't make out since I thought it was an argument over Piracy, would explain someone looking at your game list on steam to suggest you hadn't bought a lot of titles if you get me, was why I asked, and yeah mods can't really do much though when we put our game profiles in the sig you can see that I enjoy a few rounds of Senran Kagura and Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball from it :D I think the best bet is just to not give a shit mostly about others if it comes down to it.

As for why I bought it up, was just to gauge his interest in the subject matter, if you see me creating a thread about the X1 for example I'd be fine if people questioned why I had done so given that I very much don't have the system as of right now, unless the thread was "where should I buy an X1, I've changed my mind" As the post above this suggests though, I wanted to spend a bit more time than an image/gif reply to the OP at least and engage him on the matter.

Im pretty sure what he means is your bringing things into the topic that has nothing got to do with the question.

In fact looking back over it seems like many people have tried to steer this off and now im wondering why...

Are console gamers more willing to accept things?

I think paying to play online says "YES".

But what does that have to do with just consoles though?

I pay each month to play wow on the PC, does that make me as a PC gamer more willing to pay for online when it should be free? (somehow? I don't know where this logic that it should be free comes from, I rate how much something is worth by how much it is worth to me)

In fact sometimes I like the fact that there is a moderate paywall in place on certain things, say like Overwatch, game has a small cost to it and slightly feels like it could have been free to play with microtransactions, that said because it isn't free it means that the community as a whole has made an investment in the game before they step into the game community with others. I find a paywall at times can lock out those who are just bored on their pcs looking for something to troll and be annoying in.

He tried arguing originally that I wasn't a PC gamer unless my profile was public so he could count what games I had let alone which ones, that argument alone made no sense and wasn't related to the core subject.

The OP subject was more or less on why a certaon amount of gamers on one platform tend to accept practices that the other doesn't take in so easily. OP's gaming history doesn't really make sense to me since him not being a primary console gamer shouldn't really stop him from talking of the subject he wanted to. It hasn't really stopped those that aren't into PC gaming to talk about PC related topics on any site.

"Anti-consumer" seems to be the new buzz word among PC gamers.

Exclusives are a great way for a developer to add value to their console. The idea that everything should also be available on PC is, for the most part, a sentiment held only by PC gamers. And if course, because PC gamers would love to play Mario on their rig. This mostly seems to be a direct result of PC gamers wanting more on their rig, justified by the idea that publishers could make more money by being on all platforms.

The flaw in this logic is exclusives aren't there to make money, they're there to generate interest for a platform. The argument here is the Bluray market, but the flaw in that logic is there is only one High Definition medium now, as opposed to the Big Three in gaming. When HD-DVD and Bluray are in competition, there were exclusives. Not only that, but the only people making Bluray players were joint owners of the platform (or paying large royalties); and the same holds true for HD-DVD.

The reason exclusives exist can be broken down to one simply thing: Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft take large percentages of games sold on their platforms. So of course they want the next CoD to sell the most on their console to get the biggest piece of the pie. How do you do this? Why, you have games that can't be purchased anywhere else, adding value to your system over others. Valve does this as well with their Steam Machines and their storefront. Yes, they release their games on consoles as well, but those are now few and far between.

Are they Anti-consumer? I would say no, it would be Anti-consumer if, say, Sony beat Nintendo and Microsoft into leaving the console business (becoming the only console), and continued these practices. If they were the only medium, they wouldn't bother trying to isolate everything to one platform, just like with Bluray and DVD before it. But we live in a world where a healthy console industry exists, and that healthy industry breeds innovation and new exclusive IPs.

Are exclusives Anti-consumer? No. PC gamers just want to live in a world with one medium of gaming, and as long as more than one of the big three is in the console race, it won't happen.
