PS4 is still slimmer than Slimbone, so I guess it doesn't need it just yet.

But without the confusion of one having exclusives over the other (-:

You mean PC against X1S and what scorpio may see in the future?

No, I meant that Scorpio will have VR games while the original X1 won't, so going by that, Scorpio will exclusively have That set of games which alienates existing owners.

Release a Neo this year that is a bit bigger than the ordinary PS4. Release a Neo slim next year that is a bit smaller than the ordinary PS4. Profit.

One year would be too quick to introduce a slim version of the Neo and it goes against historical precedent.

The industry is taking an interesting turn with the unveiling of .5 upgrades, so we will see how exactly this plays out but there's a lot of ?'s in the air that we simply won't know until everything is on the market.

The ps4 slim (20nm version) failed. Neo is the slim.

We don't know how big the Neo is, but it has a 14nm design with twice the compute units, the apu should still be half the size of the 28nm ps4 version. It should also use less power, thus smaller psu and fan. The original ps4 is stuck with the 28nm apu, it can't really be made any smaller.

If people can't differentiate between two products you better send they to pre-school... how can someone buy a car and choose the model and accessories, too much confusion.

If the person have internet, have different prices in the store and 2 brain cells I think they can perceive the difference between both versions, if not they would have a hard time even buying Neo over PS4 or different HD size on the consoles or cellphones.

You can't blame anyone but yourself if your consumers can't get exatcly right what your products are, and if they make a mistake, the confusion comes from and will reflect on you, and the one who will lose is you.
Making very clear what is and what for are your products is a priority to sell them.
You can't expect the consumers to look for info, you have to make it clear yourself, and making it hard for them is the completely opposite of what you should do, thus Sony will simply not do it, there is no way it'll happen, no way.

Release one, burn it in the mind of the consumer, release the other later then, and that's what will happen.

I agree that confusing your customer is your fault. But releasing two HW isn't necessary making customer confused, it will depend on how they make the release and marketing.

Ps2 was a lot smaller than Xbox and sold even better than PS4 yet they done Slim.

It could be technically impossible (which I doubt, they have good engineers for that), but to say current sales make Slim impossible is not good reason. Not to overlap release of Neo would be a valid reason depending on how they want to phase their catalogue.

... I don't think you understand my post; Nowhere in it did I state that it was impossible, I simply asked the question of how much smaller the console could actually become, and then gave my opinion that with the way it's selling, they don't need to make a slim model anytime soon... I didn't say they won't, just that they don't need to yet.

Ok I see... yep we don't know for sure how much they can shrink. If they stay at the current die size they won't be able to cut much since the PS4 is almost the same size as the waffle. They would need 14nm to really have a big gain, and as some have said here it won't be coming for PS4 just for Neo but we can be sure.

I know it, I was just kidding with you. Funny enough is that at first they were promissing the X1 would still run everythin... but looking at kinect and always online plus cloud I'm not sure they would hold this promise as well. And if they depend of Scorpio plus Occulus to do VR it could possibly be too expensive to really have any impact.

It's not about "doesn't need it". It's about "Can Sony do it?" and "will Sony make more money if they do it?".

The answer of those 2 question being "Yes" ergo we will soon see a PS4 slim...

Doubt it, but who knows

Andrew House praised Apples approach of announcing and launching their new products close together. I think we're likely to see a price drop in the next two months. I still believe they'll push it as a slim and the focus for the advertising will be on 4k media playback and 4k upscaled games. I'm inclined to think they won't even mention the specs.

The PS5 Exists.

The new Xbox One Slim comes with a Ultra HD blu ray drive.
That ll make it expensive.

I bet you Sony can stay 50$ under whatever price the Xbox One Slim sells for.
A 249$ PS4 normal version would be a hellva good price.

Drop normal PS4 price from 349$ ---> 249$.
Launch New PS4 Neo at 399$.

Pretty sure thats Sony's plan.

PS4 will still be faster than the Xbox One Slim, and with a 50$ price advantage, that ll be enough to keep it selling well, even without ultra HD blu ray.
