Forums - Nintendo - Take-Two CEO says They are Watching Nintendo and What They Do With the NX

"Nintendo (NTDOY) has already announced Nintendo NX will be coming out in spring 2017. What impact will new consoles from the major players have on the gaming industry over the next couple of years?

It could be very exciting. You never want to count Nintendo out. They go quiet for a while and then they come to market and do something really exciting. We are very interested and watching closely the development of what Nintendo plans to do next."

When they launched GTA V they said the same about Wii U. Nothing new actually. PR talk.

"They go quiet for a while and then they come to market"

That right there says so much about why many western third-party developers aren't on board when Nintendo launches a new console. They have to wait to find out what's going on. I remember the guys from Bethesda and Gearbox talking about how they were out of the loop until Nintendo was ready to launch, by which point they already had their own plans and schedules.

So basically they're not working on any software right now but are enthusiastic blah, blah, blah.

Meaning nothing from Take 2 for launch or likely any time soon after launch.

Remember EA's "Unprecedented Partnership"

Hahaha. EA said much more and it means nothing in the end, words don't matter, actions do. Let's see what does or doesn't happen.

This just makes it look like Nintendo is basically going at it alone for the first year (at least) of the NX's life. If that's the case, then they're going to need a ton of 1st party games to avoid software droughts and a unified library is the only way they'll be able to realistically accomplish that.

When they're quiet like this, they're plotting something. Something nobody could call. Can't wait for NX to be unveiled. At least wait for the unveiling before downplaying Nintendo.

Most third parties have a variation of this diplomatic response in their portfolio. "You never want to count Nintendo out" is a part of all of them. In reality it means as much "don't expect anything respectable from us, not even in case Nintendo's system sells".

Maybe "selling" isn't the only attribute hardware needs to get 3rd party software support.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

While I understand what most of you are saying, and cant help but agree at least partway, it does sound a little hypocritical:

Ubisoft says vague stuff about NX that sounds negative:
20 pages of rants how Nintendo fucked up for good.

Take 2 says vague stuff about NX that sound positive:
"Nah bro, they are not serious, its just marketing bullshit!"

Maybe I'm misinterpreting things, but thats how it looks to me right now.
Just a suggestion, but why dont we just wait until Nintendo shows NX and start judging when we have solid intel?

The new guy.

Sorry for possible mistakes, not a native speaker!

Because people like to speculate and act like they know what they're talking about.  I know I do from time to time.
