Forums - Nintendo - Zelda: Breath of the Wild Can Be Beaten Without Completing the Story

It'll probably be hard as hell to do. The players on the show floor could barely take out the Guardians. It's good that it's an option but whoever just does it to beat it is either insane or doesn't want to see why Hyrule is the way it is, which is one of the biggest draws for me.

And for people trying to compare it to Chrono Trigger and Lavos, no it's not like that at all. You had to at least beat Chrono Trigger once for the New Game + to show up.

You could travel to Lavos after around 1-2 hrs into the game actually.

Anyway, I think Vivster is right. It sounds like there are side quests that will let you power up and reveals more of the story.

Well, if you wanted to beat the game. I've yet to see someone 1-2 hours in the game actually beat lavos without new game plus. BoTW has been confirmed to be completable even with your lowly stats.

Elsewhere they said you can go straight to the final boss at the start. I'm not saying this is objectively good (in my OPINION it is), but it's clearly about as far from the usual linear experience Zelda has offered in really every game following the original.

At the very least, it sounds very, very different from the usual RPG at this point; perhaps more akin to a Bethesda RPG.

If you can skip right to the final dungeon that would make all other dungeons optional. Seems fun for speed runners but we all know that no one plays open world games that way^^

Obviously we can't know if doing that is "technically" possible but beyond difficult or what, but it's interesting that there's so few obstacles. It sounds like the entire game is optional.

I'm sure we'll soon see "100% naked 3 heart Zelda speedrun" hitting youtube haha

Interesting, in my case I'll try to do everything I can before beating the game

How do I interpret this information? Can you complete the game immediately after waking up or not? Then what's the point of the dungeons, characters and exploring? I don't want to look on the internet how to not finish this game within a few hours. Sounds like a questionable decision to me.

Your reward for exploring IS the characters and the story. You miss a ton of stuff by just beelining it to the end boss and beating him while naked. It's probably hard too.

This game is meant to emphasize freedom and exploration. You're meant to WANT to explore the world and story.

Someone in the comments section on YT said that maybe you need those gadgets like that magnet to defeat it. And those gadgets will probably be all over the map/the story/the game.

Looks like there is a whole ton of freedom in that game.

My take:

-For the first time since OoT, I fear Ganon (considering the stats, imagine the health the last boss it's going to have - guardians have like 500, maybe Ganon 2,000?)
-You have to explore to discover the story and gather better equipment to save Zelda and Hyrule (Castle) (in this context, the only 4 big dungeons makes sense as we have since the beggining our main objective, no twist in the middle like every game after ALTTP)
-You will be able to get a good equipment without exploring all the map, but for those who wanna explore every inch, the reward will be very very powerful gear/equipment
-The arena to battle Ganon will be the entire Hyrule Field. Similar to those Guardians battles.

Not exactly. You can go to Ganon with low stats, but that doesn't mean you can beat him.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Aunoma: Story segments take your concentration away from the game, so we are allowing you to skip them.

Lol.

Just make sure to give me my puzzles.

This game is going to be a speedrunner's dream.

Not me though, I'm not a good enough gamer for those type of challenges, nor would I want to miss a single Shrine in this game.
