Forums - Microsoft - Is Phil Spencer a Hypocrite?

Is Phil Spencer a hypocrite?
Is Phil Spencer a mason?
Is Phil Spencer a robot?
Is Phil Spencer reptillian?

Is Phil Spencer the first or the one making contradictory statements to try to selling products? Is Spencer the first or the one to troll, or criticize the strategies of a competitor? No.

Here's already at least two threads messing with Phil Spencer, like he was the first, or the worst. I've been a gamer almost all my life, and I've been following E3 for at least 10 years, the only ones that I could call good guys are, and always have been Nintendo.

With the long historial of Sony mocking Microsoft products, I'm very surprised about the amount PS fans here demonizing Phil Spencer.

The Scorpio isn't massive, the only difference will be resolution and framerate, for people who own 4K and want 60Fps. There will be no exclusive titles designed only for this console and it will be held back by XB1. if not? This is a 9th gen console and MS fucked you all over the 8th gen.

Now, most of you probably remember when the rumours about an upgraded PS4 started circulating, and Phil Spencer took the word quite fast that he did not support mid-gen upgrades because it splits the focus of the developers/consumers...

Then MS had their E3, good ol Phil came out on stage and announced the Xbox Scorpio, and he couldnt be more excited....

This just seems so hypocritical to me, first he downplays the rumors of a mid-gen upgraded PS4, then he proceeds to do the same thing with the Xbox. My respect for him was severly injured when he did this, thoughts?

I see what you mean, but it's not Xbox 1.5, it more of a typical 4 year new consol jump.

I see why they are doing it, to give customers that want a more powerful consol and willing to pay for it.  Plus it helps developers as consoles are harder to hack thus more people actually buy their games, and they get to show off their hard work on something other than a PC.

Plus the games are backwards and forwards compatable.  Well at least until we go to DirectX 13, which might be years away at this point. DirectX 12 still has a very long way to go.  (The Xbox 360 was only DX 9c, and look how good games look at the end of the gen.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

I'm sure Phil knew quite well that the media was asking him about what the media had been buzzing about around that time. He is well informed about what goes on in the console industry after all. It's his job. So I don't think there's a problem assuming that. If he actually meant something else, and didn't want to be misleading, you'd think he would have specified it more clearly.

Actually you nor I have absolutly no clue what Phil knew.  If the persona asking the question did not like the answer he could have always made it more specific.  You have no clue exactly how people view information or how that information is processed.  Its the same situation when you ask multiple people who saw the same event give totally different answers to the same question.  When you work in business, you take classes on this type of stuff all the time because multiple people can see an event totally different.  So not its not Phil job to read people minds and understand they wanted a different answer to a question which was not specific enough to your opinion.  There is nothing misleading about Phil answer.  He answered the question given to him not the opinion intent question which could be anything from different people.
