Forums - Microsoft - Is Microsft about to dominate the console market next year?

No. There is no market for the X1 big enough. The problem Microsoft has is their cross platform strategy. The Scorpio will not capture a new market. It will only target players who already own an X1 or had already planned to get one.
The Neo has a much greater advantage. Not only targeting PC players who will be very intrigued by the new performance and all of the exclusives but the VR crowd as well.

X1 is not meant to win anymore. it's just one part in Microsoft's portfolio and there is nothing wrong with that.

Depends on 3 things:

  1. Pricing. I'm no expert on hardware costs, but 6TF doesn't sound cheap, even in Holiday 2017
  2. Dev support: Scorpio games will have to run on the Vanilla XB1. Will developers actually take the time to upgrade their Vanilla XB1 games to have a noteworthy difference between Vanilla and Scorpio? I know what some people will say "why not develop for Scorpio then downgrade to Vanilla?". Simple: Vanilla games will look and run like shit and you'd still have to put in the extra money into optimization.
  3. PS4 Neo. Yes, unless Sony is now upgrading the Neo the Scorpio will be significantly more powerful, but if the Neo is significantly cheaper and there isn't a huge difference between Neo and Scorpio then it wont change a thing.

Announced way too early. Gives them no advantage. Once Neo marketing begins rolling no one will remember this until MS begins to market it and I don't see them running ads 1.5 years out from launch.
Scorpio does seem powerful but no idea why it was announced so early.
Not to mention they are giving Sony an entire year to adjust.

even sony don't realise a PS4 neo , they will dominate next year
the one that may get hurt by this is Nintendo

Chalkboard time?

Not going to happen. ^^

Neither the Neo or Scorpio will be that big of a deal. Since all games will work on the PS4 and XO, the games themselves won't be that different. They'll be prettier and have a more stable framerate but they can't bring anything to the table that won't run on the older systems.

In addition to that, Scorpio will also be competing with PC.

i absolutely believe scorpio will be the highest selling console that is an enhance version of an xbox one. it will dominate that market honestly.

No. Exclusive games >>>>>>> powerful hardware and guess which company has exclusives?

Nope. New hardware is amazing. But the problem remains the same few exclusives and little Xbox install base. There's no way they're going to catch up. Unless they start giving away Xbox Ones for free.
