Saved me reading any more info on this, I guess at least I would get to experience what it would be like to open up an airlock on the bridge and be happily sucked out into the void of space along with the rest of the crew in VR.

Actually, I don't mind the JJ Abram's reboot universe. And I'm 52 years old and grew up with TOS Star Trek. Many of you younger people think TNG is the original universe, but you are so wrong.

Many VR games are simulation games showing that it is an excellent way to use the new medium. Problem is I don't want to be a fast food chef.
I want to command a Federation Star Ship. In VR.
STAR TREK: Bridge Crew is a day one buy for me.

Because this game is perfect for VR and VR is only now going mass market.

The devs even said in one of the articles I linked to that this was only.a tech demo but CBS saw it and wanted the game.
