Well I know the PS3 will do better once some of these big games come, but this list does not represent what the general gaming public is in Japan: it represents what the more dedicated hardcore gamers want. Brain Training 3, if it comes out, will probably outsell every game on that list other than DQIX. DQIX by the way will sell over a million copies day one, easy.

Brain Training, Nintendogs (etc..) were never on the list. NSMB was around the 10th mark, and never got higher. The new Pokemon games hovered around 15th. There is no correlation between position on that list and sales - ever. As said in some of the posts above, its the select view of a few "hard-core" gamers. Even if everyone of those votes earns a game "buy", that barely scratches the surface for weekly sales of ANY title.

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099

Motorstorm outsold excite truck Vf5 and Gundam will get a boost in sales whenever the ps3 sees them. The ps3 is slose to 1 million units in Japan.

So now you're comparing Blue Dragon's results to those of FF XIII????????? This anti Sony trend keeps getting more and more mind boggling...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Isn't Famitsu the top gaming magazine in Japan? Or is it not even a magazine and I'm thinking of something else?

EDIT:  Yeah,

"Famitsū (ファミ通? abbreviated ファミ Fami) is a Japanese video game magazine published by Enterbrain, Inc. Currently, there are five versions of Famitsū: Shūkan Famitsū, Famitsū PS, Famitsū Xbox, Famitsū Wii+DS, and Famitsū Wave DVD. Shūkan Famitsū (週刊ファミ通 Shūkan Famitsū?, lit. "Weekly Famitsū"), the original Famitsū publication, is considered the most respected video game news magazine in Japan.[1][2][3]" -- Wikipedia

*rolls eyes @ larry again* There is another thread about this... The games that are featured in the Famitsu Top 10 are almost always awesome, however as everyone else has already stated this is not directly related to sales. 'Core' gamers are outnumbered these days, and the 'Casual' gamers are the ones buying games in droves. The 'Core' gamers are the only ones who read Famitsu and vote about the games they want the most.

So GTA and Halo are "casual" games? What about Final Fantasy? A lot of the games on that chart will sell very well.

Edit:  And yes, I realize GTA and Halo are not on that chart, but they are not casual games and sell very well.  RE5 should sell very well as well, and I dont think FF and DQ are casual games.

The ps3 is close to the 1 million consoles, yes, but at its actual sales rate, it will hit the million in about 2 months, maybe a bit less. At that time, the Wii may be able to reach the 3 million consoles sold. And Wii´s lineup FOR THIS YEAR is far better than PS3 in Japan... maybe not for the hardcore but hell yeah for the casuals. Motorstorm outsold excite truck Of course, it´s a much better game, but it failed to sell as well as it should...Excite Truck, on the other hand, sold good for the hype it created.

The Point is that games that make this list do not necessarily sell well (Motorstorm, Virtual Fighter 5), and many games sell well without ever making this list (Nintendogs, Brain Training). Because of how this list is formed it is heavily representative of "core-gamer" tastes and is detached from the purchasing choices of the average consumer.

As for Gundam Mosou, Namco-Bandai and Koei worked jointly to produce the game ... Koei said that they expected the game to sell 2 Million copies while Namco-Bandai expected 1 Million; when complaining about sales of the game Namco-Bandai said that they expected it to sell "at least" 500,000 copies which (surprisingly enough) was the same value that Namco-Bandai clamed was required to break even on a game.

And thus the reason the game is being ported to 360 and coming to the US as multi-platform now.
