Forums - Gaming - Blizzard Clamps Down On Overwatch Porn

Good luck with that Blizzard. You'll lose, no question about that.

There's porn of every game.... ever... and all the modern 3d games made using game assets. Tf2, tomb raider, lollipop chainsaw, Batman Arkham, mass effect. And there is a hell of a lot of it. All companies know it exists. The bioshock infinite guy even said how much he hated the porn of Elizabeth lol.

I really don't see the point in what blizzard is doing, you can get it taken off pornhub sure but you won't get it taken off the thousands of other sites, you just type in "Overwatch rule34" and bam you're done. There's nothing anyone can do about it so what's the point.

PR.

This will make headlines. Leaving it there won't. Furthermore, this will cause beneficial headlines. Imagine a parent contemplating on what to buy for their kid as a birthday gift or whatever, and they read that Blizzard are shutting down people trying to make porn with stuff from their game. They'll go "those are responsible people", and they'll have Overwatch at the back of their head, which could easily influence their decision if their kid is into video games.

But they're alienating their hentai loving demographic!!!!!

A bit typical to see the OP and then the shame on you act, kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy right there.

They want to protect the image of their IP and they feel they need to. Of course this only extends to the 3D models as they are direct representations of the characters from the game they own and made but they won't be able to take down custom made fan art that is all over the net, that is something they will never take down nor be able to.

That said you'll never stop R34 from being a thing, just like you won't ever completely stamp out piracy, both of them have gone on for centuries and will keep jogging forward without stopping.

I do wonder though when the next Blizz article will come out with a negative spin from OP, possibly the legacy server news from a day ago perhaps?.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

So using ingame assets to do all kinds of mods is okay, but doing porn is not? I see all kinds of in-game engines being used from Mass Effect, Silent Hill, Dead or Alive or Resident Evil in Porn clips and gifs.
But this is the first time i see a company cracking down on this fan art, wow not even Konami did this, shame on you blizz

I don't think you can really moan about Blizzard in this case. They have every right to do this and it's not at all surprising.

If you've seen porn of other games, firstly it may not have been in game assets anyway, but even if it was how can companies shut it down if they don't know about it? Overwatch porn is actually popular so it's not exactly hard for Blizzard to notice it.

Yes there is plenty just go to a site called Rule** and put any game you like in there, there is plenty of 3D animated Gifs even for old and not succesfull games like Silent Hill 3

They dont have every right to do so, the porn is offered for free. Its fair use. And lets be honest kapi even if they wouldnt have used the ingame assets and remodeled the characters Blizzard would still go after the work and claim its their Intelectual Property blabla. Why do people even side with this company, they are opneing the box of pandorra here?

It's very simple. Mods = good publicity! Porn = bad publicity!

Publishers like: good publicity!

Publishers don't like: bad publicity!

So why hasnt Nintendo went after Porn made made from Nintendo characters? Because there is better things to do

Doesn't have to be Blizzard. Any western developer is sufficient.

They can try. I already have folders full of Overwatch porn. Particulary futa, which seems to be the new crazy among 3D artists and comissioners!  :P

If they would be able to they certainley would.

I knew about the legacy servers being shut down for a while now, but i dont really cares as its WoW. But i do care about porn and freedom of art obviously so i dont get your accusations

are they clamping down hard... really really hard... yea... just keep going hard blizzard..... dont stop... fuck... just dont stop!

If anyone is interested, there is a jimquisition episode that talks about this, and its very interesting:

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
