For Phones, you can get top of the line looks and performance on the cheap as well. Look at Motorola devices or OnePlus devices. They look awesome and often outperform the comparable Apple product and have better reliability. I worked for a massive company where, due to whining, gave in and started deploying Apple tablets and phones. The amount of device failures due to bad manufacturing was astounding. Even Blackberry had a better track record. We ended out having to purchase AppleCare on every device because more than 1/3rd of all devices failed, not including drops, within 1 year.

Apple devices are just popular, but from my experience and knowledge of other available products, they are simply overpriced garbage.

I will agree that Apple Phones and Tablets are very good at being a phone for people who don't know how to use technology. Apple has mastered the art of dumbing down technology. The cost of this is making advanced use and configuration nearly impossible without "jailbreaking."

I'm honestly surprised by this. All the apple producs I own have outlasted anything comparable from other companies I've owned.

I've had my macbook pro for five years now and it is honestly the most stable running reliable computer I've ever owned. Only problem I've ever had with it was a failing harddrive warning, wich is something that can happen to any portable device with an hdd. (I'm a bit of a Hdd killer I think, every single portable one I've owned failed within a year or two, so the macbooks 2,5 years weren't that bad. :P) Swapped in a ssd and it's been working like a charm ever since.

No system freezes and not a single hard crash ever. Back when I build my own systems the blue screen was a daily visitor.

My Ipod nanos clickwheel failed after nearly seven years of use, so while a was a bit bummed out, I don't think that's a bad rate either.

But I guess I was lucky then.

The places where Apple rips you off pricewise are usually storage and ram, things that used to be freely upgradable after purchase without voiding guarantee, at least in their pro lineups. I'm not impressed with the apple watch, the ne macbook or the proprietary custom pcie flash storage in their macbook pros. In fact I'm not impressed with the way the whole macbooc pro line seems to be going down the macbook line, sacrificing usability and ports for thinness. Yet the sheer comfort of use and stability of Apple producs plus their integrated eco system would make it very hard for me to swap away again.

Apple producs are not just some product for housewifes with zero tech knowledge, but they are very comfortable to use. (In fact, having tried out ubuntu I very much disagree with you on its ease of use compared to OSX)

FYI - I believe you may have missed a bit of the conversation later where further explained the failure rate. The users were primarily sales reps and their usage was heavy and we deployed iPhones and iPads, no OSX items or iPods.

Usage was typically 10hours plus per-day on phone, email, and text with a bit of random internet usage. They usually had to charge their phone 2-3 times a day, or whenever in the vehicle just to allow it to last. Their usage is way above average but the issues I had with the iPhone and iPad did not compare to any other company except Blackberry, which has the worse which had more than 60% failure at my former company.

The OP, however, seems very tired of all the Anti-Apple talk so I will let it rest --- for now.

Apple products are overpriced, but they're good.

Don't know if there's much hype about Beats products. There's a lot of marketing, but I only hear people saying how crappy they are. I tested their flagship model in a store once and would say the the sound quality is definitely sub 50€ level, maybe there are even 20€ headphones with better sound. It's a fashion product for people that have no idea of audio equipment.

I feel similar about all kinds of "gaming headsets", around twice the price of comparable headphones and their mics are oftenly worse than 3€ lavalier mics.

Beats Headphones is a good pick, I would say Apple is more debatable though

So what is "Good Looking" for you then?

If the layperson does not care about which phone outperforms the other than why is it a major selling for Apple. E.g.: The A6 is 150% faster than the A5.

It is up to you if you believe my "anecdote" I guess. I was merely speaking from experience when supporting thousands of iPhones that my former companies sales force used day and night. Maybe it was just their usage level. Using a phone for 10+ hours during your day for emails, calls, texts, and Internet is most likley much most peoples usage. But in this case the failure rate of the iPhones was very high and much higher than other devices I supported (except BB). This includes Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Nokia devices. The issues I am referring to with iphones was device failure, not droppage, I rule that out because no device can handle drops on concrete regularly.

I disagree strongly that Apple products are Way better than the competition. They don't really compare to the competion in features, quality, or power.

Since you bring up Music production I will as a strenght of OSX I will take a breif moment to dispell that. There is honestly nothing that you can do on OSX that you cannot do on a PC. The idea that OSX is better for content creation is a modern myth that continues to propogate its self. When MACs were originally adopted for content creation OSX did not even exist, however, at this time the MAC was better choice for content creation for it's IMB PowerPC CPU. This CPU was better at working with long chain non-parallel processing than X86 processers and also had the benefit of being 64-bit first. It carries the same advantages that a GPU carries over a CPU for image rendering. Ever since Apple dropped IBM and started using Intel it lost this advantage. Even though the advantage was lost the idea that it is better for content creation still went on.

Look, I'm not here to get into a petty Apple vs. the world argument with you. Apple products have advantages and disadvantages, just like PC, Windows, and Android do. My only point here is that Apple products, have pros that make them absolutely worth their asking price, and people don't buy them because they're ignorant - they buy them because the products are good. They're reliable, have good build quality, have a great ecosystem, have a level of hardware-software optimization that no one else has, and they look good. If that's difficult for you to understand, that's your issue. Apple is who they are for a reason, and that reason isn't idiot consumers - it's good product that's priced appropriately for its value, clearly, because people keep buying them and liking what they buy after they buy them. I used PCs for over 18 years of my life, and then I got a Macbook and the difference to me was incomparable. I didn't get an iPhone until 2014, and I liked it better than any other phone I'd used by a landslide. I wasn't brainwashed into liking Apple. I used it and I thought they were better, and so do the millions of other people who made Apple what they are today.

Actually, no. I'm perfectly fine(as long as it isn't flaming). I just got irritated when out of the blue someone randomly accuses me of mentioning apple just to gain attention.

Damn, so passionate. I'd like to ask if you want Tim Cook for president :P

But no, I see your point. I don't hate Apple. I like their products(besides the Apple Watch and Beats). Only thing that disappoints me is the fact that their computers will never be suitable for gaming. If people were able to buy a card that installs Max OSX on your computer, I'd get it right away.

As for phones, I'm not going to be the annoying kid who says, "Go android! Screw apple!".  A friend of mine has let me try out the newest iOS, and I must say, it is way better than iOS 6(the last iOS i used before leaving Apple). Android is great as well, especially with Google, Samsung, LG, and Huawei.

I understand the pricing though. Many computers that focus on attraction/thinness are absurdly high as well(compared to normal laptops). Perhaps the only reason I sometimes dislike Apple is because people treat their products as though they came from heaven. It's not perfect. Nothing is. As much as I love technology, I realize that everything is made for a purpose(besides cheap knockoffs). Apple comes with simplicity, lightness, and beauty. If I didn't invest in two computers, I probably would have gotten an ipad/mac for the go. If apple wanted gaming computers, they would have made gaming computers.

Then again, what I'm truly waiting for is the iPhone 8. Tenth anniversary of the iphone leaves me on my feet waiting to see what it'll be like.

Came here to mention a few Apple products.

Not disappointed.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I'm honesly not lol I'm more passionate about the irrational hate against Apple than an irrational fan of Apple. I hate the way they're treating the Macbook Pro line and it made me cringe when they said that the iPad Pro was the future of personal computers.

The gaming issue disappoints me too, but I buy consoles to game on. I've never wanted to buy a computer for gaming, and I likely never will. I bought my first Macbook for college, and I'm buying my next one for music and video editing. If I could game on it too, that would be great, but the truth is that if it doesn't I don't care because I'm just going to buy a console anyway. I wish Apple would take gaming seriously, but that's more because I'm a gamer who likes their products and less because I have any need for it.

I guess I understand that sentiment. There's not really much to argue there. People do do that. But I do think that a lot of it is do to Apple products being a major target of sneer, and people always being on the defensive about them because a lot of that sneer is directed at the people who use the products, rather than the products themselves. That doesn't justify it, but it does mean that it isn't something that comes from nowhere. It's a conditioned response.
