Apple products are overpriced, but they're good.
Don't know if there's much hype about Beats products. There's a lot of marketing, but I only hear people saying how crappy they are. I tested their flagship model in a store once and would say the the sound quality is definitely sub 50€ level, maybe there are even 20€ headphones with better sound. It's a fashion product for people that have no idea of audio equipment.
I feel similar about all kinds of "gaming headsets", around twice the price of comparable headphones and their mics are oftenly worse than 3€ lavalier mics.
