Forums - Gaming - UWP Increases Xbox install base significantly.

Microsoft needs to invest much effort on their games platform for PC, they can make it, but for now they are no competition to steam. We'll see.

UWP means Xbox disappears.

No, Xbox still isn't a PC and it still plays a crucial role in appealing to console audience.

UWP is just an ability for Windows 10 and X1 to easily share apps.

Do you really get the impression they are competing with Steam? That implies they are trying to steal Steam's audience.

To me Windows Store and Steam is like Netflix and Hulu. They aren't really competitors because they offer very different content and many people use both.

Third Party software gets an INSANE amount of revenue, Microsoft certainly want those games on their store. Windows Store was not created just for Microsoft Products.

This is a great move for Xbox, Windows, and Microsoft in general. This makes every one of their platforms much more valuable, and make s it an ecosystem I would actually be interested in getting back into.

I left PC becuase, so many publishers and developers started requiring you to use their platform to buy their game. I understand that the little extra cash per copy helps, but the absured amount of accounts required to play on PC is not worth it for me.

If Microsoft can finally bring all of the games under one roof, then I will be back on board with a little PC gaming. If they turn Xbox into their in house, super optimized PC brand, then I will be switching to Windows Phone and Xbox as my home and mobile platforms, because no other competitor offers a full package and complete ecosystem, and as a consumer, that is my ultimate desire.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

People can use both, but they're competing to sell all non exclusive games, MS for sure want to steal those sales.

Ahh, so at E3 MS will announce that Xb one has now "sold" through over 300 million since the launch of UWP.

It would be funny if MS say that PC is their Xbox Neo at E3,

UWP is dead on arrival as far as PC game developers are concerned

Oh, I remember that when Steam launched :D :D

Then you remember poorly, yeah steam had a rocky start with connection issues, but it also started just as a store for CS and Half life 2, it was also blazing a trail for digital distribution of games.

UWP is clearly Games for Windows live under a new name, most of the large developers have voiced there concerns about it, and so far the only big games that have come to the UWP platform have direct MS involvement and even they were borked at launch.
