Forums - Sony - How did Uncharted 3 get a 92 metacritic?

This is similar to how i feel about Zelda skyward sword. It was decent but not even close to being a master peice. Its getting a 93 on metacritic when i think it should be getting a 75-80 max.

Its all subjective men...more people liked it then you and thats not a bad thing. You can like what ever you want, i however thought it was a fantastic game.

On par with your "The AI is terrible" comment. ^_-

Oh yes, the AI of The last of us is obviously perfect and anyone that dares to say the opposite is hating the game, lmfao. Very mature indeed.

Good isn't the opposite of terrible.

There were no 3D games before OoT, duh. Gameplay, combat and level design were also conceived by OoT. Get with the times, m8

Yes, very funny, but there was indeed no other 3D adventure game like that at all, first time I played it in my cousin house it blew my mind in a way no other game has ever done, it felt like videogames have jumped several years into the future with that one, nothing came even close, all my ps1 games in that moment felt like nothing in comparison, it was unbelievable for its time and almost every game of the genre nowadays has been influenced by it.

I played Little big adventure in 1994, that impressed me more than Oot. Not fully 3D sure, it's all incremental steps after all.
Oot is the better game, but as far as impressive leaps go Oot wasn't all that close to the top. Ofcouse in '98 it had very stiff competition with Half-life, Baldur's gate and Metal gear solid, what a fantastic year.

Person 1 - This game is completely perfect, it has not a single flaw.
Person 2 - Not really, it does has one flaw
Person 3 - Bu- bu-but your favourite games are worse!!!

Who is the one that shouldn't be talking about maturity right now?

You mentioned OoT and how it was revolutionary. You mention that the AI in TLOU is terrible (which isn't true at all). So if you praise one game and deem it deserving of infinite praise, then you should apply the same criticism to its parts. In this case, the AI in OoT is abysmal.

Oh please Hynad let it be, this argument of yours is the dumbest you have ever written to me and I'm sure you know it, OoT is a game from 1998, that's 15 years before than The Last Of Us , of ourse the AI in OoT is way less advanced, that's too damn obvious, it would be a huge problem if TLOU had a 15 years old outdated kind of IA, what's the point?

But not only that, you say OoT or Nintendo games in general have a worse IA, but is not the same to have a less advanced IA than to have a BAD IA, you see , Mario Bros has an almost non-existant IA, but... does it need it? Did OoT need a better IA for what the game is? It is not the same case, The last of Us is a game that is all about the realism of the inmersion, is constantly trying to make you feel like you are there and is full of stealth moments where the AI of the enemies matters, and yet you get plenty of embarrasing moments that completley break the inmersion that is trying to create, in the moment you are trying to be hide behind a corner while there are several enemies close to you and then Ellie becomes crazy and starts to walk around in front of all the enemies while looking for a place to hide and they become suddlenly blind and do not react at all to her presence, the inmersion completely dies in that moment, and things like this happens more than it should in that game, the AI actually hurtsa bit the best virtue that it has, it may be more advanced than many games but it feels like is not enough for what the game is looking for, that's all, I think is a great game I just dont think is flawless or revolutionary and honestly, I dont think you do either.

I actually like Uncharted 3 but the entire series is over rated.

I think its funny Killzone 2 has a score in the 90s. The game is boring and MP died pretty fast.

Seemed pretty active when I played it in 2013, 4 years after release...

I'm not saying its completely empty, I'm saying the population got relatively small quickly.

But that isnt uncommon for the series.

I know, it's totally unfair. Uncharted 2 got a 96 and Uncharted 3 was the better game. No way it deserved a 92. Should have been 97/98 at least.

The real unfair score was TLOU 95.
Anything less than 100 was just not right.

I would dock points for flawed enemy/ally AI and lackluster puzzles.

It got 92 because it's a fantastic game. People need to stop mixing quality with taste. The game is great, that it does not appeal to you personal taste is whole different story.

Well I was a kid, I had 9 when I played OOT for the first time, but I was very used to videogames by that moment, In my house we had an Spectrum DX, an Atari 2600, a Mega-Drive, a GB and a Ps1, I used to play a ton of videogames and I remember that OoT was the biggest WOW I have ever felt in my life in that regaard, it really was, FFVII and MGS were big wows too but OoT was epic for me, and I didnt even had the console.

This is by far the biggest problem.

LOL. Yes, I think TLOU was revolutionary. For reasons that are different from why you think OoT was. Many people do. And no, I don't think OoT was as revolutionary as people like you do. And before you ask, I played it for the first time on release day in 1998.  Now, I don't like to use the word overrated, but when I see that word being brought up, OoT is the first game that comes to my mind. This coming from a fan of the franchise since playing the very first game on the NES in 1987, in case you didn't know. To me, it was a blurry mess running at eye-hurting fps, with bad controls to boot. The atmosphere and time travel mecanics/ideas are its only redeaming aspects to me.

As for the part about AI, when applied to OoT, I said that in jest. But my point stands that you do not apply the same scrutiny and criticism to games that aren't made by Nintendo or exclusive to their consoles. That much, we all know. ^_-

That part about Ellie is laughable, by the way. It's still a game. The alternative would be countless frustrating moments where your teammate would be responsible for screwing up all your hard stealthy approaches and similar work. The way they designed her is not intrusive, and works better for the narrative they were going for. But hey, feel free to cling to any possible negative you can find in it to fit yours.
