It has to be there. I'm sure Nintendo isn't that irresponsable as to release a system in half. The question is going to be whether they sell this all together, or will they sell the expansion and the handheld separately.

Not necessarily. It really depends on how Nintendo chose to ultilise the tech. At $400, I guess you're assuming Nintendo is going to offer a powerful handheld  packed with a SCD equiped with a GPU in order to turn the handheld into a modern spec console?

They may sell the 2 components seperately with the handheld being the primary system, in which case the starting point for the NX might be $250. The NX handheld may come with a dock for HDMI support, controller input etc but no additional GPU included.

The NX may be a cheap TV box not much more powerful than the Wii U($149) where the optional supplementary box turns into something closer to its rivals..

It really depends on wants to do. 

Somewhere I remember hearing talk of bundling possibilities, but not everyone will necessarily want their own SCD.  The beauty of it is that people are able to "leech" off of others' SCDs.  They won't have their own piece of the server network that SCD owners will, but they can still take advantage of the extra power/capabiliteis that it offers.  Theoretically at least.

No, there have been rumors of only Nvidia. There has been speculation of AMD. No one reputable has ever claimed that AMD was providing anything for NX. That was all made up fan theories, like cartridges.

Nvidia doesn't have ANY console custom ship win for their future, their tegra ship is going to be used for smart cars, annouced by them. Plus Nintendo already has a patent like this. That nvidia rumor is so so bullshit.

I think it would be brilliant if its a launch device. You can get the basic console which has polaris 11 in it for $199. It will be more powerful than PS4 but will still be affordable. Then you can buy the SCD for $199 and it has a 480 in it. That would be a huge step up from the basic package and keeps them in the running hardware wise. Or a complete package for $399. It would be excellent if Nintendo pulls this off.
