Forums - Nintendo - So what if Retro Studios new game is..

a reboot of the Star Tropics franchise in the mold of Tomb Raider / Uncharted series?

I was thinking about the topic the other day and that the possibility of this made me a bit giggly. I absolutely love Star Tropics and would be thrilled to see it happen. But why whould it? Kind of far fetched I know, but Retro Studios brought back both Metroid and Donkey Kong Country titles to home consoles with games that both were among the best of their generations. Why not again? I think they could pull it off.

What do you think? What game will they reveal? I would love a Metroid game but I dont think it is what they are working on.

that would be awesome, i was playing startropics for the first time and seriously there's so much potential for a modern franchise, Mike Jones is cool too!

Yeah it's such a cool franchise. When it was released, it did everything Zelda did and then some. It was just a better game. There could be so much done with it, hopefully it will be back at some time. But in all honesty, I would prefer it to happen sooner rather than later..=)

That's what I've been asking Nintendo in the past 2/3 years, it would be sooooo easy now that Takeda has more power than before in the company...

Can't wait for Star Tropics Returns. We saw what they can do with fur. Now let's see what they can do with stars.

Do kids still really play with yoyo or baseball bats these days?
Is that still marketable to tablet kids?

I'm not sure since i'm >30 :p.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Jojo?

Bats, yes. My 5 year old has a novelty bat he plays with and a foam bat to hit a foam ball

In the vein of uncharted? That would be wasted potential imo, star tropics is supposed to be an adventure game similar Zelda but in a tropical setting not a generic movie wannabe
