No, because... 38 21.71%

At this time and age, Im pretty sure the E3 is gonna be successful without Nintendo. Nintendo is whats losing relevance. More so after Zelda U/NX comes out.

Depends.

If you like games.... yes.
If you only like Nintendo games... no.

Pretty much this.

No need for that...

No, they are in a weird position with E3 right now. There's absolutely nothing about NX that justifies skipping E3. Everything about E3 justifies skipping E3. Nintendo can have their own keynote on their own time and they'll get more coverage and they'll have no competition. That's only the case because E3 is losing relevance. Nintendo could have hosted a Digital Event and they could have made it 3DS centric. They have enough games to fill it out, but they didn't, because they have their own platform to do that with now.

The internet has made E3 obsolete, and publishers are starting to get that. Nintendo got that years ago, which is why they started Nintendo Directs in the first place. Nintendo doesn't need E3, and neither does EA, and neither does Activision, or Sony, or MS, or Ubisoft, or anyone else.

You dont know why Nintendo wont show the NX at E3. It could be that they dont want to be in the same situation as they were with the WiiU. So maybe they are waiting to see what Sony and MS has before unveiling it...? Nintendo has had the biggest presence at E3 for the past 2 years with the Treehouse thing lasting for three days. They need E3 because every kind of gamer watch E3. Pretty much only Nintendo fans watch Nintendo Directs.

That doesn't make any sense. It's not about the NX. It's about Nintendo. They still have two platforms to support and they still have games to talk about. They aren't showing more at E3 because they don't believe in E3 anymore. They can show all of those games in a Direct. They don't need E3 to give their games coverage. They aren't waiting for anything. They are revealing NX at their own event because they'll get more attention a their own event, and that's because E3 isn't the defacto place to reveal platforms anymore. It's. Losing. Relevance.

They had Treehouse while not having press conferences. So no, they didn't. And stop pretending that every gamer watches everything at E3. No one but fans watch Treehouse Live, and the Digital Events are literally just Nintendo Directs, so apparently they don't need E3 because only Nintendo fans watch Nintendo at E3.

Or because E3 is losing relevancy and everybody paying attention knows it.

E3 is still as revelvant as ever.
More and more press show up, viewer ship keeps growing.

The only thing that proves is that they deem the conference redundant considering all of their major announcements have historically been on stage with Sony or Microsoft.

Considering that it appears to be tricky to find Nielsen ratings for E3, we only have Twitch for viewing figures. If E3 is dwindling in relevance then why is Nintendo about to give the world its first demo of the new legend of Zelda, at none other than E3?

Is that a serious question? Nintendo is only showing one game at E3, and you're wondering why it's proof that E3 is dwindling in relevance?

If EA thinks having a converence is redundant, why are they still having a conference on June 12 @1PM, the Sunday before E3? Activision doesn't even have conferences, so they wouldn't even care if conferences were redundant. Your point is demonstrably false. Conferences aren't redundant, E3 is obsolete as a platform. Publishers need E3, and they know that gamers don't actually care about something being at E3 anymore. There are an infinite number of avenues through which the same information can, and will, be conveyed through.

They're showing their most hyped upcoming game. Why at E3 though? Why not just do a Nintendo Direct? Answer that first please.

And actually, the fact that EA moved their conference to literally right next to E3 is incredibly telling. Now they'll get even more exposure from having their own event AND having a presence at E3. You can deny it all you want but you have literally done nothing to prove that E3 is dwindling, it's all been opinion asserted as fact. The only platform that's become obsolete for GAMERS, in that aspect is watching through the tv, now gamers are flocking to online streams. Which, I proved using hard data that we must take as fact, has been growing exponentially each year.

Why is E3 as relevent as ever? Megatons from the entire industry concentrated into one conference.

What you say - E3 is irrelevant, developers can do their own thing.

What I say - you are wrong, no individual publisher or developer can garner as much views individually, and no casual viewer wants to sit through 10 separate events just to find out what the industry has in stores. E3 is bigger than any one company, it will have more press coverage than any one company, people recognize the conference, and most importantly, it will be on NATIONAL TELEVESION which has much, MUCH higher visibility to the population than any single conference could hope to muster. Let me know when EA has a conference broadcasted nationwide.

That's why they did the Nintendo World Championship, the Smash event and the 3 day Treehouse livestream...

???

And no conference.

Also, who says they need E3 for any of that? This thread started because Nintendo (and EA and Activision) made clear moves to show that E3 doesn't matter to them anymore, and you're trying to pretend it does because they hosted a competition they regularly hold and have held elsewhere there too?

...And Treehouse?

Think what you will. I just think you are reading way too much into what a couple of publishers are doing. EA is still having an event RIGHT next door to E3, TWO days before the event. That doesnt mean they are skipping E3. If it werent for E3, EA wouldnt be there...

What is Nintendo going to show?

Pokemon Sun/Moon? The game every person into Pokemon has already decided to buy...

Paper Mario Color Splash or Federation Force? The games that got a petition to be cancelled...

Some games that were released in Japan months ago?

They dont have much atm. Thats just the sad fact of it. Im sure they will be there in full force next year.

E3 is extremely relevant, everyone announces their big surprises, the social media storm is huge, it's the only time I see casuals interacting with games media and journalism .

If it isn't relevant to you you're probably a Nintendo fan, but even most Nintendo fans get excited for E3

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Its not as relevant as it used to be. The big thing for E3 used to be the announcements and the fact that it was a central hub for info. It used to be one of the biggest factors for getting word out about your games. But thanks to the internet and the information being easily accessible, E3 isn't nearly as relevant as it used to be.
