Forums - Sony Discussion - Damage coming to GT5 "very, very soon"...

The reason I asked was this:

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/816/816592p1.html?RSSwhen2007-08-29_022000&RSSid=816592

A SCEE spokesperson stressed to us that while Prologue is heading to PSN, it won't be free like the previously released Gran Turismo demo and, what's more, the downloadable game doesn't include damage modelling - unlike the Blu-ray version.

The information might not be valid anymore, of course.

The development team said in the past that the reason damage was not included so far was because they were perfectionists and they would want to model every single possibility so it is as close to reality as possible.

You only have to see the closeness to reality of the real game in order to appreciate the huge effort it will take to implement this feature...

If it took 1 month to model a single car then it would take twice to do the same car with damage, since the damage possibilities are endless...

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

I pray "very very soon" =/= GT6

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

 I really hope that's not true, after warhawk, I much rather download the game onto the xmb instead on physically putting the disk in.

GT series getting better with every new game.

Damage is good. I don't see why anyone would call the Gran Turismo series the definitive driving simulator when you can just ride the walls to victory in many tracks.

 Except you can't actually do that.

For GT 1 & 2 you could.

There was this Suzuki car (fastest car in game) that would barely turn but have insane speed and it was one of the cars where you can just ride the walls.

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

It's not something I care remotely about, but it is the most requested feature. I see more bitching about lack of damage in GT4 than I see about lack of online play.

 LoL, i remember those days, it was the Escudo.

But i wonder if they will need to cut down on the cars in the game to do the damage too, it will take along time to do damage on 700 different cars.
