Forums - Sony - Sony expects to Sell 20 million PS4 in current Fiscal Year (Apr 2016 - Mar 2017)

Don't really think Neo or VR will be big movers, I think it will mostly be software and a price cut to $299.

Still think 2017 will be peak year though

Well, NEO won't be cheap and will help to retain a decent average price even with a price cut for the "normal" PS4.

Which ujs a guess.

But even if that is so it is offset by the loss in profit from dying (very proifitable) PS3 related sales.

I dont see a ps4 price cut of any significance.  Why would they?  Thats old Sony trhinking, they have wised up.

PS4s will drop in price even without the pricecut dueto the neo, segnificatley in fact

It will sell roughly 20M; my forecast too.

”Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman.

last year 17.7m shipped with a good but modest line-up: uncharted collection, until dawn, the order 1886, the witness.

this (fiscal) year:
ratchet and clank
uncharted 4
no man's sky
the last guardian
persona 5
gravity rush 2
paragon
gran turismo sport
horizon zero dawn
neir automa
valkyria azure revolution

hellblade
all those smaller titles like boundless, aliennation, shadow of the beast, the tomorrow children, drawn to death, matterfall, hardware rivals

ps4 neo

probably ps4 (non-neo) price drop

psvr
rigs
whatever else is launching with it

at least 1 big title in early 2017 we can't place there for sure (dreams? detroit?)

this is going to be ps4's peak year i'm sure of that.  basically the "big" exclusives are much bigger than last year and the "modest" exclusives are far more in quantity.  there will be some repurchasers that upgrade to neo.  psvr is a wild card but based on OR and vive there seems to be demand for vr.  20M sounds pretty easy if you ask me.  if neo, psvr, no man's sky, and horizon are well recieved it could maybe even be up to 22-23M.

Sony must have something spectacular planned to aim that high. I wonder what it is.

That's low balling but still high. Sony clearly believe there are things coming this year that will push hardware. My guess would be PSVR, price drop, E3 revelations and NEO (which will give it the biggest boost.) 22m is my guess.

Just a friendly "nudge nudge wink wink" reminder, that Horizon Zero Dawn is on the way.

I was against psvue at first but I finally tried the free trial and wow, I love it.  I did the math and it canceled everything but Internet which they discounted for me and ended up on track to save over $700 this year.  Then that savings increased because Sony implemented a $10 price drop for vue!  Who does actual price drops anymore?

How is that even possible? How expensive is TV entertaiment where you live?
