Forums - Gaming - Wish Sony had a nostalgia initiative and brought back: Crash, MediEvil, Parappa, Ape Escape and WipEout

These 5 classics from the PS1 should come back for the 20th anniversaries. FF7 remade, RE2R too, RE7 is apparently going back to the horror roots, REZ Infinite, Shenmue 3, Yooka Laylee, it's the revival of late 90s gaming.

They could bring them all of those IPs on mid sized budgets and even sell for $40 like Ratchet, hell Parapa 3 could even be made on a indie budget. Some of these games would make nice VR titles too (Jumping Flash?).

Just see how amazing MediEvil would look with modern graphics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd80uokktUY

The occasional revival is nice, but if you wanted to satisfy every fanbase you'd be stuck in the past and never creating anything original any more.

Wished Konami had a nostalgia initiative and brought back: Suikoden. And Suikoden. A lil' bit of Suikoden.

It would be cool for us, but for them it would be more of a piss money away initiative.

Extremely surprised we haven't at least gotten Parappa. Can't be that hard to make, and it's got such a simple art style. It would look really good and they could sell it for a budget price and get tons of nostalgia sales.

And Tomba!

There's just not any reasonable way that the game could keep its roots or charm on modern technology. Some things are just better left as memories

Sony have an Everyman approach. That's why they avoid promoting certain games as mascots. Once you've trained your userbase to expect the same titles every year, it's almost impossible to diversify and attract a broader demographic.

The PS5 Exists.

I do think that Crash could successfully be revived in a big way if it were given to the right hands, however.

Well it was only four years ago we got a Wipeout title and it was great. I fear that's the end of the series though.

As far as the other series go, I just don't think they fit into Sony's design philosophy. Realistic, cinematic action games seem to be Sony's bread and butter these days.
