Those were different times, the fact that the HD collection almost outsold the original games shows the potential. Also Konami never released ZoE on PC and PS4 who are more future proof platforms.

Silent Hill was never as big in sales as most people think,  why else do you think they closed down team silent at the time? Its because of low sales, tough it still ended up more than the newer silent hill games made by western studios.

However the original team silent games could have sold much much more and keep selling if konami would have released a properly running HD remaster just like ZoE did if not even more. They still have the possibility today on PC and at least PS2 classic version on PS4 using Sonys emulator. A properly done remaster would be the best choice imo. These old games are still popular in todays zeitgeist, they never were just treated properly

I'd say 10 maybe even more. AAA development for something on the scale of gta or uncharted takes years. I doubt they'll have anything worth showing off for a 2nd project in 3 or 4 years and no matter how good whatever they're working on now turns out to be you cant be the next Rockstar with just 1 game

They were different times, but its all I have to go on for now. I cant predict the future. Like I said I hope the game is great and that it does well.

You cant just leave MGS out of the dusscision and say:

Their first game will be ready in 3-4 years.  I expect 2019 or 2020, maybe cross platform with PS5. New studio, new engine, new ideas, gonna take a long ass time.

Kojima's self started studio will not have the funds and resources of a Naughty Dog or Rockstar by their second game, even with Sony's help. That doesn't mean they can't be just as fun, though.

Kojima is overrated. Average gameplay with lots of in game movies is his trademark. And please check Naughty Dog 30th anniversary video. It's not easy to make a great studio. And nor a single person defies a studio.

We'll see in 2 to 3 years how decent he's studio will be.
