Exactly, which is sad. I would have hoped Nintendo had learned something about marketing and competition with the Wii U, and they would know they can't miss major events and hope that last second advertising to avoid going up against PS and Xbox was going to work. 

Exactly. I wish I knew what to say about this but at this rate I hope they dont fall over.

I really don't care if they show me anything. I don't completely understand when people get upety about lack of footage. It's gonna be awesome. It's a mainline Zelda.

also, i'd be surprised to see more than 10min on Zelda. It'll be mostly about Mario color splash, Tokyo session #fe, and a bunch of 3ds games.

On the other hand, with NX clearly not being at E3, is there anything else new they could bring to E3 for 3DS/WiiU that'd really get anyone excited at all?

The moment footage and details start flowing on Zelda U, there's going to be an unstoppable hype force across the internet and the world. Let's not fool ourselves, it would eclipse anything and everything else Nintendo could show for 3DS/WiiU.

E.g. No NX @ E3 = really not enough for E3, but if it's just Zelda that's probably about the next best thing.

Personally Zelda U/NX is the only game I care about AT ALL at E3...out of all 3 consoles...soooooooo...I really don't care cause I win!  =P
