I think a lot of this also has to do with the fact that traditional SE games lend themselves perfectly to mobile devices and mobile play. They already have my money for all classic FF and DQ games on Android and I'm eagerly waiting for the localization of DQ7 and 10 so I can throw even more money at them.
If they release the 3DS version of DQ11 on mobile as well they would make even more serious cash and me very happy.

If you ask me, we don't even need two. One is enough. But two is necessary to keep them honest. |
Same here. 1 console platform and 1 PC platform will do the job.

We don't need any at all, we can make our own consoles.

Well, HD gaming still grows as well. Tomb Raider didn't release on PS4 or the numbers would be higher for HD gaming and not to forget, their smartphone revenue would be less if they wouldn't be so well known from traditional gaming.
Without Square on consoles, their smartphone games would surely sell less as well. Same with EA and some other devs.
I don't really see a big problem here. It only shows that they might need more employees for both markets and not that they have to reduce their workforce for HD gaming as if that wouldn't be important anymore.
