Forums - Gaming - Why is there so much internet outrage for Sony Japanese Games that gets digital only western launch than Nintendo?

Honestly it's perflexing, imo. Ace Attorney 6 gets digital-only release yet there's not much western outrage compared to Gravity Rush/Daze or Diginon Cyber Sleuth. Nothing against Nintendo fans for their uncaring attitude but it's really funny that the same can't be said for Playstation japanese Games.

Both Digimon and Gravity Rush got physical versions in the West.

Are you talking about Vita games?

Are you sure that's a thing? I don't remember anyone being annoyed at digital only Vita games. I mean, who in the west even has a Vita in the first place?

Those are PS4 games too, only the most popular console right now. There's always an outrage whenever a game doesn't get localized or doesn't gace a disc version.  Yakuza, Digimon, DOAX3 etc

I think western Sony fans tend to more frequently have a collector mindset, but more importantly, they are loud.

Besides, With region free games and limited run games, expectations for physical games is bound to be higher for Playstation platforms

Pretty much this.

I've seen some people get mad over a digital only title, and refuse to buy it, but honestly it's really just a minority, but I do see it a lot on sites like gamefaqs.

The bold isn't a digital only game....seeing as I actually own it. And as with others this is the first I have heard of this "outrage"....is it even really an outrage?

Neither is gravity rush. I think their point is that Sony games are announced as digitally only and then come to physical after outcry, yet this doesn't happen with nintendo digital only games

Gravity Rush is as close to being digital only as you can get without actually being digital only. I mean, you literally cannot walk into any store in the whole of North America and buy it. Not sure what it's status is in Europe.

Honestly, Nintendo gamers I feel aren't that persuasive, they are too easy to please.

You're not too familiar with Operation Rainfall, are you?

It's last gen.

Nintendo gamers this gen are much more easier to please.

I'm a older gamer. I will not buy a AAA digital game. It's bad enough I rarely get a instruction manual. Since they don't have to manufacture and print discs and packaging and transport it to my local store. Take $10 off the price of the game then I'll think about buying digital copies.

I mean like, a handful of people complained when Fatal Frame V was digital only, just like a handful of people complained when Gravity Rush Remastered was digital only, but outrage? lolno

"Handful" is such an overstatement.

A few dozen users on NeoGAF complaining about it doesn't qualify as "Outrage".

Fatal Frame V got a lot of rage too..

Also, that was about not getting games at all.

For me i rage because I'm a collector, due to my backlog a game being digital only will more than likely mean I never buy it. 40-50% of the games I buy I never actually play because they keep getting pushed down the peaking order. If the game is digital only then I can almost guarantee that I'll never play it, aside from a few exceptions.
