Ok, that's something a lot of people say, "please Nintendo can you give us a Normal controller" but that's funny cause since the NES, Nintendo never had a normal controller

1.Nes- introduced the dpad for a home console controller

2. Snes- shoulder buttons

3. N64- Introduced analog stick, camera buttons and targeting button...  and in some way a rumble function (rumble pak)

4.NGC- ok this one is a better version of the N64

Bonus- DS touch screen for gaming

5.Wii- Introduced motion controls

6.Wii u- Introduced a second screen.

so, you can't say, "please Nintendo just give me a normal controller" cause  whether you like it or not failure or not, they always find a way to introduce new features, and a lot of those features are standards for gaming today.

Edit: what i'm trying to say: "I think you meant that Nintendo doesn't follow trends but tries to create trends.  They may not have been the first ones to innovate all of the controller innovations that are attributed to them but they're the ones that popularized/standardized them." -wombat123

The Intellivision had a circular pad that functioned similarly to the d-pad, and I believe that the Vectrex had an analog stick way before the N64.

I want the way that is the most comfortable and responsive. I'll take refinement over being innovative for the sake of being innovative any day of the week.

not trying to start the "nintendo did this first argument" hopefully you can understand my point with this thread.

I disagree. Besides the Wii, there was no blueprint for this "normal controller" you speak of. Do you refer to like the PS controllers as the norm???

I think they've had decent controllers before the Wii. The Wii and after have been terrible design and for casual gaming in my opinion.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

During the earlier days of gaming, when all was trial and error, a controller like the N64 one wouldn't be that weird, but in today's landscape, most gamers have a very specific layout-design in mind. The Gamecube and the Pro controller are the ones most suited for today's tastes.

My choice for a controller would be a slightly bigger version of the GC controller with a DS sized touchscreen in the middle.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Have you just seen TheBitBlock's last video ?

inb4 No, Nintendo never had a regular controller because elements from Nintendo controllers became canon AFTER Nintendo released them , just watch and see them wheel-like triggers becoming canon in a matter of 3/4 years...

the wii has an amazing design, not for hardcore gamers but we are not the center of the universe. Motion controls?? that was a revolution back in 2006. was gimmicky yeah, but you can play with it.
